I had some insight earlier if you want to look at my posts. This has been working flawlessly for me. Running windows 8 Pro. I just put iTunes in my startup folder because you need iTunes running of course. Or you can just open it after you computer starts but I like the other way just in case u forget. Next is that your PC can't be asleep obviously so if it sleeps or hibernates. Go wake the PC up and give it 5 minutes and when you unlock Ur phone it should show 'sync now' ready to be synced under settings. Like I said everyone's setup a are different. Mine has just been working fine. Good luck

For me the issue was intermitant and I couldn't figure out what was wrong with my computer and apple devices. Most of the time they worked, but they would hang sometimes and never complete the sync etc. Finally I decided to do an upgrade that actually fixed the issue.

I bought a new router AND MY OLD PIECE OF CRAP ROUTER WAS THE PROBLEM AFTER ALL!!!!!!!😠

This is MOST LIKELY not the issue for the majority of you, but if there is someone like me that tried several other things and couldn't ever figure it out......this may not be a bad idea. If you are already thinking about upgrading your router then even better. I bought this one and I love it!

After months of frustration this tip from Dee Texas did the trick. Thanks a lot !

I posted this "fix" earlier in the thread but it seemed to help many so am posting it again.

I am running windows XP. Disconnect iphone from computer. Open control panel and select Administrative Tools,

Services, Apple Mobile Device. Select "Stop" the service. After this has stopped, select "Start" the service. After service has started again, open iTunes and connect device.

I have to do this procedure after every OS update as well as a Windows update.

Hope this helps.

It's often what you can't see that gets you.

My iPhone 4s can only connect on the 2.4ghz band, and that band is saturated with too many WiFi networks in my area. There are no clear channels for me to use, so my iPhone will always have problems syncing over WiFi.

Use a free program like inSSIDer 3 (Windows) to see what networks are on the frequency that you want to use. You can also see what channels are open, if any . For me, 2.4Ghz had nothing open, and 5GHz only had 1 other network on it, so once I get a 5/5s that supports 5GHz, I suspect my WiFi syncing will work perfectly.

I read warning that 5GHz has a much shorter range than 2.4Ghz WiFi, but I have not problem using it through my apartment.

I spent countless hours messing with my computer, iPhone, and router to try and get WiFi syncing workig. I wish I had checked for "noise" from other networks first. It would have saved me a lot of time.

My issue is the same asZonYX

"I have some problems to use the wifi sync with my ipad 2 and iphone 5. If I start my itune, my 2 devices will show on itune and I will be able to sync them. But after some time (about 30 mins), the sync button on my iphone and ipad turn to grey. If I try to click the sync button on one of my devices in itune, is says looking for iphone or ipad and after a while the peripheral, just disappear from itunes. For the moment, to get the wifi sync work again I need to force the restart of the apple mobile device service and restart itunes. Then my devices will show up again after 1-5 mins and I will be able to sync over wifi again until "my sync now" button option turn to grey on my devices. Is there a way to avoid restarting the apple mobile device service and itunes to get the wifi sync work?"

I can restart the sync service in Windows 7 and it will sync wirelessly, but after a few minutes the button on the iphone greys out and itunes can no longer see the iphone wirelessly (unless I "restart" the Apple Mobile Device service)

Apple fixed a high CPU issue associated the ATH.exe process with WiFi sync on Windows 7 machines with iOS7 and the latest update to iTunes but haven't fixed this issue.

Apple seem either incapable or disinterested in making WiFi Sync work on Windows machines.

Maybe they think this will drive users towards Macs.

In fact it is driving me to Android for my next mobile devices because this is an area where Android 'just works'.

Indeed I have the reverse experience of iPv6 under iTunes 11.1 and iOS 7 which I have just posted under the thread about ATH.exe issues and Windows 7 64bit machines, but agree that the issue seems to depend upon upon Bonjour and iPv6 connectivity on the Windows host PC.

A couple of days ago, I noticed iPv6 timeout errors for the Bonjour Service in the Windows Event Viewer after observing erratic connections of my iOS7 devices to iTunes 11.1 as I have described previously. In fact as *a lot* of users have described in Apple & other forums for most of the past serveral years.

I had switched off IPv6 on my Windows PC ethernet adaptor some months ago while attempting to troubleshoot the issue as a number of articles online attributed these type of errors to the Bonjour service 'choking' on iPv6, suggesting it was best to disable iPv6 at the Windows adaptor. In my case my Windows PC is connected by ethernet to the same router which serves WiFi to my iOS devices.

However this time I tried enabling iPv6 on the Windows PC adapter and Voila! stable 'Sync Now' connections for the past few days for *both* my IPhone5 (iOS7) and iPad2 (iOS7) to the same instance of iTunes 11.1 / same Windows 7 64bit PC. Indeed the connections appear to be so smart with iPv6 enabled that the 'Sync Now' connection will 'grey-out' temporarily on one device while the sync of another device is in progress and then become available again when the sync on the other device is complete.

What's more when I again switched-off iPv6 on the same adaptor (ie. in order to test reproduceability of this observation) I saw an immediate return to the previous unstable connection behaviour.

This suggests to me that the (presumably) updated Bonjour Service now being rolled out with iTunes 11.1 requires iPv6 connectivity to reliably support 2 or more iOS devices connected by WiFi to the same Windows machine.

Itunes appears to try using iPv4 connections when iPv6 is not available (i.e the devices will initially & temporarily show-up in iTunes with iPv6 disabled), but it seems iPv6 connectivity is necessary to maintain stable connections to multiple devices. This also seems to fit with some of the online technical documents I have read about Bonjour which suggests that iPv6 is used by Bonjour to maintain mulitple connections over a single interface.

Incidentally I don't dispute that turning-off iPv6 may have helped resolve connectivity issues for some users with previous versions of iTunes, particularly if they were only attempting to connect one device, however I suspect iPv4 and iPv6 behavior has been rewritten in the lastest version of iTunes & now performs much better if iPv6 is active on the connected Windows PC.

I would be interested to hear if other users experiencing unstable 'Sync Now' connections between their Windows PC and their iOS devices can verify my experience.

I never disabled IPv6 and had the flakey wireless sync behavior with my iPhone5 (never seemed to have the problem with my iPad2). To make it work, I would have to disable Apple Mobile Device service, restart it, and then it would work for a few minutes before breaking again.

Now it just seems to work all the time with no issues. Don't know if this was a result of the iOS7 update or a iTunes update. It just works reliably now with both the iPhone5 and iPad2 on iOS7.0.2 and iTunes 11.1.1.11

Your experience is consistent with mine justanothercog. Although I had iPv6 disabled I still didn't see stable connections until iTunes 11.1 *and* then re-enabling iPv6 on the Windows adaptor.

I realise that my post is mostly only relevant to users such as myself who may have previously disabled iPv6 as part of troubleshooting WiFi Sync with previous version of iTunes.

However it does suggest that having iPv6 enabled on the Windows PC adapter is necessary for stable WiFi Sync connections with iTunes 11.1 which is actually the reverse of most previous troubleshooting advice on this topic.

WiFi syncing never really worked for me on Windows 7 unless I restarted the Apple Mobile Device service which seemed like more trouble than connecting with a cable. But iTunes 11.1 and iOS 7.0.2 solved it for me, at least most of the times. In those rare instances where iTunes can't locate my device, I initiate the syncing process from the iDevice itself and everything works like a charm. Problem solved ta last!
