After my upgrade to 10.7.2, iChat can not communicate with my IM account using SSL. I had to turn OFF SSL to get it to work. Anyone have any thoughts on why this would change?
I get the error: iChat can’t communicate with the AIM account “name”.

I was able to get it working by unchecking "Use SSL" in the account Server Settings.
SAME I NEED HELP NOWWW.....I MIGHT AS WELL NOT HAVE MY MAKE WITHOUT ICHAT WORKING WITH AIM. HOW CAN I DOWNGRADE BACK TO 10.7.1? THANK YOU!
me too. unchecking SSL works for me.
you can also change api.oscar.aol.com to slogin.oscar.aol.com and leave ssl checked for it to work

Actually this seems to work better, change the server to slogin.oscar.aol.com with port 443 using SSL. It seems to allows me to connect again.

Hey all, I'd like to point out that just unchecking SSL might be a work around, but certianly not a fix. Turning off encryption is not an end-all solution here.
I believe meldavid and Daniel might me on to a more reasonable fix here.
Thanks for the work around...any insights as to why this works or if it's a stable fix?
I ask because I believe the default when creating a new account is the api.oscar.aol.com on 443, so I am just hoping that they are not in the midst of sunsetting the slogin.x.x.com address.

Hi, changing the server settings did the trick! Thanks. Also I would agree with Michael, unchecking SSL is a mistake. It might work but you are sacrifycing some security. In this day and age we all have to be careful. No this is not paranoia but I know of at least five identity theft cases (friends, family, neighbors, work, etc.)
It is a complete NIGHTMARE, it can cost thousands, ruin credit and the work involved is hundreds of hours!
This does not even include the emotional toll.

Thanks, this fixed it for me too after my upgrade to 10.7.2 from 10.6.8.
10.6 still uses the slogin address, so I would not worry about yet.
