Unable to send email through iCloud on my iPhone

I recently set up a new iCloud me.com email address and have no problem revieving email or sending it out (when i'm at icloud.com), but when I try to send an email out through my iPhone I get an error message. "p06-smtp.mail.me.com"

Can someone please help me figure out what exactly this is and what's going on? Not being able to send email slightly changes the purpose of having this account.

Thanks!!!

Me too, I have the same problem. When I used "Other SMTP servers, it solves the problem but it sends the email using the other SMTB email account. It seems that it is a common issure, because it is written in the iPhone "If Mail is unsuccessful using the primary servers, it will try the other SMTP server" .

We need to fix this issue!!

Is anyone use the US store and get the same problem??

I am using none-us store and I think it is because of that.

Thanks...

Ok I figured out how to make it work:)

Just go Mail->Preferences->outgoing mail server and chose "edit smtp server list"

then just look at the picture and fill the fields on that window according to information on image

after savig that just select new server and check "use only this server" on Mail->Preferences->outgoing mail server window

Ok I think this problem here is Apple... You get this problem depending on what smtp server you are registered on.

I always get the message that "p06-smtp.mail.me.com" failed...

But according to the nslookup command there are only the servers "p01, p02, p03, p04"... no p05 and p06 or p07 and p08 ...

What I did to get it to work (only considered as workaround):

first I tried to add a second SMTP server with the address "smtp.mail.me.com", it seemed that the mail went through... but never arrived... then I configured "p01-smtp.mail.me.com" as second server and it worked!!

What is the problem with this workaround?

When you change the password! As it doesn't accept the Apple Token you must configure your Apple ID credentials manually... however when you change them, you have also to change the manually configured second SMTP server!

I did fix it on my iPhone, but with no additional SMTP servers, no delay, and instant recieve and send, I will tell you how:

Go to Settings > mail > contacts > calenders > icloud > account > mail > SMTP > Add Server... (Make sure to delete any other SMTP Servers first, or disable them)

Add the following details:

Host Name: smtp.me.com

User Name: your full email account, including domain (Ex: john@me.com)

Password: type your email password

After a moments, the dialog will disappear as if nothing changed, but it will be fixed.

Enjoy...
