Reminders don't sync with Outlook's task list

OK, after iCloud and Wi-Fi Sync both failed, I was able to perform a wired sync. However, Reminders don't sync with Outlook tasks and vice versa. Any ideas on what's not working here?

BTW, so far, the things I was looking forward to in iOS 5 have been a major bust (iCloud, Wi-Fi Sync, and Task sync).

Same basic question as iblieve968, except I can't sync between iCal and the Reminders app. Everything else is syncing fine between my MacBook Pro and my iPad2 except the Reminders. Reminders I enter on the iPad are not showing up on iCal, and Reminders I have previously entered on iCal are not showing up on my iPad in the Reminders app. This is one of the features of iOS5 I was most looking forward to.

I'm not sure about iTunes for Windows, but on a Mac, the way to turn on wifi sync is fairly simple. It's just not documented. Here is what works on a Mac - hopefully it will work in Windows, too. Plug your device in to your computer and let iTunes start as usual. When iTunes recognizes your device, click on your device and go to the Summary window. Scroll down to Options and click "Sync via wifi". That should do it.

I've put the Reminders app in a Utilities folder so I won't have to see it along with other unused apps I can't delete. Fortunately, Todo works fine for task management and syncs to Outlook using Toodledo in the Cloud, so it's really not a big loss. I guess Reminders is just another feature that doesn't deliver, sort of like iCloud (aka MobileMe v2).

Can't respond about Outlook since I don't use Outlook. I can say I found the solution to syncing tasks to iCal, so perhaps it will be the same it Outlook.

In iCal, go to Preferences, and under Account add iCloud. Type in your iCloud id (probably the same as your Apple ID), and voila. Tasks sync. Not sure why this step is necessary to sync tasks when it was not necessary to sync events, but it worked for iCal. Try it for Outlook.

Agree with original poster.

Reminders and their purported sync-ability with Outlook Tasks was the single most important factor in my assuming I was able to move to Apple iOS devices.

This has not been the case. Apple are simply lagging well behind the competition here but seem to have no intention of correctingt. They have had since 2007 to get this right. Poor. Very very poor.

Like many others I struggled to get my icloud reminders in outlook to synch with my iphone. The solution that eventually worked for me was a simple one. I went to the icloud app on my Windows 7 64bit PC unchecked the Calendar and Task's checkbox, rechecked it and pressed apply. Everything is now working well, I hope that helps someone.

This finally worked thanks!!! I use Microsoft Office 2013 Outlook with activesync for my Hotmail account along with Windows 8.1 on my laptop. Although I've managed previously to sync my Outlook calendar with my iPhone calendar, I've never been able to sync Outlook tasks with iPhone reminders (a major feature I miss from the Blackberry days). I was almost going to download a 3rd party To Do or syncing app, but then I read this thread and applied the settings mentioned above in the iCloud panel on my laptop and turned on the reminders setting on for my iPhone iCloud. It works fine now, tasks and reminders sync successfully between my laptop and iPhone. Saved me the trouble of buying and setting up a 3rd party app, many of which work only with Microsoft Exchange accounts (which aren't free) and not Microsoft ActiveSync accounts (which are free).
