I do have a Mobile Me account, but I didn't want to use two different account to communicate with Apple. So, are you saying I need to have one email address for iCloud and another for iTunes in the Cloud?

Is this Apple's long term strategy?

Who says? I have a .me.com account and it doesn't work with iCloud on my iPhone, only online. The problem seems to be legacy .me accounts. Those of us with old Mobile Me accounts are locked out of iCloud on our phones.

Sorry, but he's the guy at the top and that's where the bucks stops as of now.

Has anybody got a response from apple yet as this is a real problem.

I had an apple I'd which i use for everything. Purchases support, iTunes apps etc.

It wasn't an email so I login and change it as requested. Saved as email and now I can login to www.cloud.com

Great - still not working through any device.

Just upgraded to iOS 5 got mu contacts emails and camera roll. Are all apps set on cloud. ? If I go to sync apps it says it's going to erase my phone. Little confused with this setup as thought cloud was the way forward to sync all my stuff but I can't even login.

I shouldn't have to create a new account as I already have one with all my details, history, applecares and iTunes and apps.

Please get this sorted and let's call apple and find an answer.

Getting a new iPhone tomorrow but would like it all setup and synched before I go for a new device.

Hey guys, I'm having the exact same issue, although I never had to change my Apple ID over to an email address as some of you did, because when I created my Apple ID I made it as an email, specifically an '@gmail.com' address.

I can log onto www.iCloud.com no problem, but when it comes to logging in the iPhone 4, it doesn't work. I get the same error message that you've all been listing. This blows.

And people with older apple ids

I never had me account but had an I'd that wasn't an email. Even after converting it it doesn't work on iPhone.

I can login to web cloud but devices won't work !!!!

I have a .mac email address for my Apple ID and I just successfully migrated that to iCloud but now when I try and turn on Mail and Notes sync on my iPhone it says "Create a free @me.com account to turn on".  So I tap Create and then when I enter that account (me.com email address) on the New iCloud Email screen, it says "Email Taken".  That's right, it is, because that's me.  Hello!

Got the same error with Apple-id not supported. And I made my Apple-id like a month ago, so it's not old or anything, and it's a @hotmail.com...

I deleted my mac.com iCloud account and signed in with me.com account instead and it worked.

@Badger: No reply from Apple yet. I tried calling but they wanted me to pay for service because my iPhone 3GS is out of warranty..LOL... I guess a free service like iCloud doesn't include any warranty.

I'm going to miss mobile me... somtime you need to pay for a product in order to make the creator accountable for it.

Hoping if enough of us come forward on this thread they will give us some sort of solution.

Ive never had mobile me or mac.com. Just an apple id

All I want is to setup my iPhone with os5. Where are all my apps and music. I just want to sign in get it all in the cloud then pay for the subscription for music.

Can I just set iTunes to sync to phone so I don't lose all the stuff I've downloaded ?

Already sick of tis icloud account stuff. Was on phone TP apple they were helping and connection dropped after 35 mins of waiting.

  • Badger Level 1 Level 1 (50 points)

Tell them its nt to do with the iphone hence not a warranty issue. Its a service issue for your IOS software and device.

The phone works. I gave them my serial number out of warranty and Apple UK were happy to help. I just got cut off - Iphones don't like holding calls for more than 30 - 40 mins !!!

If you have applecare on your mac or ipad or any other device that connects hat should get you through also

Will call again in the morning as need to get an answer as to the issue. Not waiting around forever but not going to setup a new account either.

I'm having the same problem. I can sign into icloud.com but I cannot sign into iCloud on my Mac, iPhone, or iPad. I even recevied an email from Apple saying "welcome to iCloud" and confirmed my Apple ID to use with iCloud.

  • mandrakeman Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

I successfully moved my MobileMe account to iCloud and now I am able to access the service from both my iPhone 3GS and www.icloud.com. The problem is that I can't connect to iCloud with my Mac (10.7.2) since I am prompted this message:

This Apple ID is valid but it does not correspond to an iCloud account.

    Any tips on this?
