iOS Update error -43?

Same here!! They say all of your content will be reset if you continue and I don't want to do that. Apple help out!

same with me..tried over 20 times now....even tried deleting my earlier backup and tried but did not work out

I even took all my music out and even with less memory I thought it might work but no still the same thing. Apple we pay good money for your product can you atleast insure us in quick and simple downloading a new version of iOS?! CMON MAN

Yeah, tried the same. Removed everything except the apps, deleted the backup directory, restarted iTunes, rebooted my PC, rebooted my phone. No luck. At this point I'm considering just wiping it, but I know tomorrow morning someone will have a fix for it.

Have tied it 15 times and got the same error. Have restarted the iPhone and PC a couple of times.

I did the same and it was perfect.

Wish I saw this before I left for work! now I have to wait untill i get home to try! Fingers crossed!!

Good luck to everyone I followed these instructions and it worked perfect.. I did a manual backup on the phone then told it to continue the upgrade without the backup and everything worked perfect.

Having loads of snags trying to update to iOS 5.0 on my 3GS with the error -43 coming up each time. Got NO help from Apple Support. Want to try the suggestion listed here but don't want to lose any info, apps, emails, texts, contacts, notes, music etc on the iPhone. I don't think an upgrade should force you to lose any info on the phone. Can someone tell me exactly what is lost if you do a manual back up and then carry out the update. Thannks in advance for the help. I am pulling my hair out here.
