    Mason,

Thank you so much for posting this. I have been searching for this forever. Apple should pay you for your patient description. Thank you so much.

    Hi.

I have an iPhone and a Macbook Pro

Mywife has an iMac and an iPhone.

    We share an iPad2.

Is there some way that we can both use photostream that will sink our individual iphone photos to the iPad without clogging each others iPhones with the others iPhone photos?

****!  Isn't Apple supposed to be the company that makes tech easy???  I've spent many hours on this issue and the thing is still completely messed up.  I've loved Apple since 1979.  Right now, for the first time in 33 years I HATE APPLE.  This is pathetic.

Just a note, we use an app called "Our Pad" in our family of 5 and it seems to be working well so far.

I'm afraid all of you are way past us BUT maybe you can help us with this.  My son and I just got IPODs.  When they set up the Game Center, they set them up at the same time and now we both have the same IDs which makes it difficult to friend each other and to play the same game at the same time.  We tried changing the ID on mine but it changed his ID as well to the same ID of course.  Anyone know what to do?

I found the info from masonb very helpful as a relatively new user of apple devices. However like otter64, I am still struggling with how apple ids work with iTunes. My wife has an iPad with her own ID, I have an iPod touch with my own ID. How do you use them with iTunes when the documentation says only one can be associated at a time and you cannot change for 90 days?

Hello Everyone... I came across this while looking for various icloud solutions (particularly with sharing calendars and address book) and found it very helpful.

Just want to come back now with 10.8.2 and iOS 6 out.

Now you can share Photostream… has anyone tried this?

Also, you can share calendars in the Calendar application (not iOS), by right clicking on the calendar name. You've been able to do this almost from the beginning.

Any other updates you guys have found?

    Cheers.

Thanks for the detailed and well thought out descriptions. This has been helpful. I still struggle with the following issue:

my kids get iTunes gift cards so I want to create separate apple ids for them. Will they lose access to all of their apps and music they have purchased so far? We have years of all using one apple id!

    Thanks

Have you figured out how to do this? I tried to set up an Apple ID for my son who is 11 and it said he was too young to have an Apple ID!

I have the same problem at my home with 3 ipads, I use the same apple I'd, which works great, but when I set up my daughters ipad and her icloud, it used her email address in all 3 ipds undr advance options i setup. I need icloud to use my icloud address not there's ...it seems the only way to fix this is to delete my daughters icloud account hopefully I will get my icloud address to work then...or am I wrong?  There is so many post hat says you can not change the icloud email address, it uses my daughters first name, melisaf@live.com is her address, but it put Melisa@icloud.com in my ipad settings, instead of sadarick@icloud.com like it should be. My I'd is sadarick@gmail.com, I had vadarick@icloud.com, untill I changed her ipad, it changed mine too....yes this totally confuses me,not being able to change it...now if I delete my daughters icloud settings and start over, can I fix it then.

I hope someone can help me out here, this keeps me from using icloud and icloud email braise it has hers in it, not mine....please does anyone have. Fix..please!

We just updated to iOS 7 on our two iPhone 4S phones. Now, we are fussing with the multiple device problem again.

    What we need shared:

         Contacts

         Calendars

         Music & Apps

Everything else needs to be separate so that we can utilize the phone features as ourselves, not as the "main" account. We have two separate Apple IDs. Mine is the main where we buy our music and apps. My iMac is the main computer where all the Contacts, Calendars and iTunes are.

With so many people having multiple devices for different members of their family, it would be lovely if Apple would post a step by step or flow tree on how to set up devices for these situations. Has anyone called the Geniuses for help on set-up yet?

Hey Mason, your oringal post was very helpful. However, I think I may have a different issue. My wife and I each have our own iPad2. When we got them, I set up iCloud and the app store with my email address and Apple ID that I created. Then a few months after that, in the process of trying to set up my wife's iPad so that she would have her own Apple ID, for some reason when I set hers up, suddenly my iPad had her Apple ID and mine went away. Its been that way for the last few months. But today I decided I wanted to try again since all of her work contacts are mixed with mine, and vice versa. I was able to change the iTunes and App ID to mine but in the iCloud settings, her ID is there and it is grayed out so I can't click on it. You would think that Apple would have this set up so that you could click and change Apple IDs, but it doesn't work that way.

The question is: With both of our iPads having the same iCloud ID, how do I change them so that each iPad can use its own iCloud ID/Apple ID?

Any help would be most appreciated.

    Thanks!

i have looked into everything i could read, apple just did not consider about families and setup issues, if they did, it must be a secrete...it can not be sperate apple ids, kids dont have credit cards and besides, would it not be breaking the terms of agreement if we went that route. my gosh people, we are an apple fami.y, p,us my daughters family in liverpool englad...so how or what is the correct way to setup 4 ipads and 4 iphones for 1 family?   yes i know the answer, but someone knows how it should be done, if not......fire them!
