iTunes 10.5 Browser scrolling problem

Assumptions:

iTunes 10.5 (141)

15" MBP 2.4 i5, OSX 10.7.2

I have browser mode enabled on iTunes, on Top, but error also occurs on Left.

Genre is Hidden-the visible fields are Artist and Album.

Here's the problem:

I have selected ABBA with my mouse in the Artist section of the browser.

Now we all know you can type in "Tupac" if that is what you desire, and then the Artist column jumps to tupac.

Now, if I take my two fingers and scroll (with my trackpad) in the Artist column, the list jumps all the way back up top to ABBA, or the last thing you clicked.

This is SERIOUSLY annoying with 800 artists in my library.

Can anyone reproduce this?

Will apple fix this? (probably not for a long long time.. I'm sure I'll have to wait 2 months)

Windows 7 64-bit.. I'm having the same issue. It's an iTunes bug not your OS. It's very inconvenient.

Apple... you really need to step it up. Not only does this iTunes have bugs... but I PRE ORDERED my 4S and people went to AT&T and bought one who DID NOT PRE ORDER and got theirs before me. That's not right.. you PRE order something to be sure to get it first.

Found a temporary fix.

After you type in your letter... click the down arrow on the side to scroll. You only have to hit it once and you can start scrolling using your mouse wheel or touchpad. But if you jump to a letter at any time, you have to hit that scroll arrow once before or it will go back to the last place you were using the wheel.

Hope this helps for the time being.

But for the record, iTunes 10.5 has a lot of bugs. I have a playlist on and after lunch I came back in and it said it was on track 4.. when it was clearly playing track 10. I had to click on the library and back on the playlist for it to reflect what song was actually playing.

Yep, same here, I think I have trawled the internet for a work around. Similar to what Joshize said, but this is a Mac work around.

After selecting the letter you require, click below the scroll bar that appears (Not on the bar), but be quick it disappears after a second, the selected letter of the artist jumps from the bottom to the top of your list, but you can then use two finger scrolling as usual.

Come on Apple, I love you like a brother, but now i think you deserve a wedgie...

So I just noticed this problem before googling it and finding this Apple discussion thread. This is obviously a universal bug with iTunes 10.5. Everyone who reads this thread who's experienced this should report it to Apple:

http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html

I don't think Apple engineers read this forum (at least not regularly), so the only way they will see this bug and fix it--hopefully in 10.5.1, is for as many people as possible to report it to them.

This is an embarrasing and ridiculous bug that Apple had better fix in the next iTunes update. Everyone please report the bug to the above URL so that it doesn't go unnoticed by the iTunes team.

Edit: So when submitting my own bug report to Apple, I noticed that for some inexplicable reason, the lastest version of iTunes you can select is 10.4. I just left that popup menu blank (at "Select iTunes version") and made it clear in the subject line that it affected iTunes 10.5.
