iOS5 disk could not be read from or written to??

After 3 times of trying to upgrade to iOS5, the download reaches the processing files stage. The download stopped and a message appeared saying "There was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone. The disk could not be read from or written to. Make sure your network setting are correct and your network connection is active or try again later. I have tryed both waiting and my network is connected. Can anybody out there help me? It would mean a ton. Thanks.

Same problem - I left it for a good week to upgrade as per general internet instructions and I'm now getting this error message:

Never had IOS upgrade probs before and I've had 3G, 3GS and now 4.

There's nothing wrong with my network settings or connection. It seems from my quick internet trawl this afternoon that this is a very common problem with iPhones, iPads and iPods, so I wonder why Apple hasn't put out a patch/fix to sort this...

Suggestions please?

Many thanks

Helen
