Imessage registration

I installed IOS 5 without any hassle on my ipad 2. How do I send out messages using Imessage. My brothers has an iphone 4. He has not updated yet to ios 5. When I tried sending a message to him. It gave me a response that my brother is not yet registered with imessage. How do I solve this problem?

iPhone 4, iOS 4.3.3

You solve the problem by getting your brother to upade.

thanks. i just have another question on this one. imessage only works for iphone 4? correct? would it also work for the much older versions of iphone?

iMessage will work with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S running iOS5.
