iOS 5 Location Based Reminders? Where?

I updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 5 without a hitch (never jailbroken either).

However when I create a reminder there is no option to make it location based. I have location services turned on, although Redminders does not show up under the list of apps to enable location based features.

Am I missing something here? I already checked under Show More and Remind Me from within the app, and there's nothing.

iPhone 4's user manual says this: "Location reminders are available only on iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, and may not be available in all areas. Also, you cannot set locations for reminders in Microsoft Exchange accounts."

There was no mention on what areas this feature is not available in - but again, it should at lease show the option!

No in fact Location based reminders are only for the iPhone 4 and 4s. Here is the text pulled from the iOS 5 readme.

• Reminders for managing to do lists

  • Syncs with iCloud, iCal and Outlook
  • Location-based reminders when you leave or arrive at a location for iPhone 4S and iPhone 4

I know where the "At Location" option shold be but it's not there.

Oh. I see.

So the symptoms are:

"Reminders" do not show under Settings > Location Services

"At a location" does not appear in the Reminders App under "Remind Me"

[vishrut] might be on to something with 'may not be available in all areas'

-------

Have you:

Rebooted the device ? (hold top button, slide to turn off, hold top button again)

Synced in iTunes ? (this strangely sometimes 'rights' weirdness in apps)

Considered doing a 'Sync' then 'Restore' of the new iOS 5 just to be sure? (if you sync & backup first, you will lose no data or information on your iPhone)

Ok...

I figured it out, it's an odd one but I got it working.

1: When you are in the Reminders app, tap the menu button on the top right

2: Chances are you have an exchange email account or the equivelent selected under Tasks

3: Select iCloud (or any other non exchange based email account listed) and click Redminders

Now when you create a new Reminder, locations are an option 🙂
