No iCloud on Snow Leopard? THIS IS A JOKE, APPLE!

Right now I'm thinking about leaving Apple products behind for good. So I can't use iCloud on Snow Leopard (which is not that old)? Meaning my syncing (contacts, bookmarks, calendars etc.) will just stop when they shut down MobileMe in 2012?

GREAT WAY TO DEAL WITH YOUR LOYAL CUSTOMERS, APPLE!

I can't update to Lion (various reasons). So now what? Dump the crap Macbook+iMac+iPhone in the toilet? Should be a great idea!

VERY PROFESSIONAL, CONGRATULATIONS!

Yea, I'm thinking leaving macs also. And not just for iCloud, but for what it seems the new direction apple is heading with their pro software and lion. It's sad. I've never used windows before in my life, and I will never going to, but maybe it's time to explore some linux flavor.

Now that Steve has gone, well, it seems a good time for leave. It's been a **** of a ride, apple. It was really cool.

I still have an iMac G3, an iBook clamshell, a macbook and an iMac C2D, all in mint condition, so I guess it's gonna take a while before they stop working, but when they do, my next computer won't be a mac.

just use it on icloud.com

From what I can make out, you have to have at least one Lion computer to set up an iCloud account in the first place, so even though a Snow Leopard Mac could access iCloud mail and calendars online, it can't start the account.

any iOS5 capable device will do the trick. The oldest being an iPod touch 3g or the iphone3gs.

I have a MacBook Pro with an Intel Core Duo processor and Snow Leopard. I cannot install Lion on the laptop. I have for now, and for the next coming year, no budget for a new Mac. A lot of money has been put, and will be, into the children and their studies. I cannot afford it now to buy a new Mac to have Lion and iCloud all over.

Should I make the transition of my MobileMe account to iCloud, to use it on my iPhone 3GS an iPad [1], then that will have the consequence that I will not be able any more to use the Mail app, and all its functionality, as far as it goes about the iCloud mail. It will not be synchronised. Will it still be available through the Mail app in some way? Or do I have to use the web interface on my Mac, for mail on icloud.com? Imagine that!

My God, first this Lion disappointment. Now this iCloud frustration. What I cannot understand, is why this is not possible for Snow Leopard? Working with the cloud, does that have so much restrictions? Or is it iCloud that makes this impossible? Or is it just plain gore catching money?

For the first time as a long time Apple user I'm looking around now for other solutions. It was goodbye, Steve. We will miss you. But it will become: goodbye, Apple, we will not miss you.

Exactly the same problem. I do have an ipad2 and an iphone, but my imac can't upgrade to lion and i cant afford to buy a new one now. So if I switch to icloud, can i still use my Mail program to receive mail and will my bookmarks be synced? If not, shame on you Apple, for forcing people to buy new stuff in such a manner. I'm just so dissappointed, as a .Mac/Mobileme member from the very first hour. 😢

Same here.

I own Lion. I uninstalled Lion. Because, I am suffering the problem of failing internet connection when waking from sleep - it's a very well discussed issue on these discussion forums. This means I am using a VERY expensive 27" iMac with Snow Leopard and no iCloud.

But you know the worst part?

My gaming machine is WINDOWS 7 64bit and it runs Apple's iCloud software install just fine ... go figure that one out! I can use iCloud on ANY Windows machine and NOT my 27" iMac ... regardless of whether people own Lion or not, if ANY Windows machine can use iCloud, I'm certain Snow Leopard users should as well. ANYWAY ...

PLEASE use this form, be polite, and request that they stop using iCloud to sell more copies of Lion (the only reason I can they are doing this) - and get them to release a Snow Leopard version:
