Lost Purchased Ringtones with iOS 5

Iknow there have been a lot of issues coming up today with iOS 5 but I have a new one here and I am looking for some help. I went to set my ringtone and realized none of my purchased ringtones are listed. I tried going through iTunes on the phone to get them back, but they aren't listed in the purchased area and if I look them up in the iTunes store it doesn't show them like I purchased them. Please help. Thanks in advance

I have the same issue. The Ringtones actually show (in iTunes) under device (my iPhone) that they are in my phone. But when I am in my phone (not tethered) and try to assign a Ringtone to a contact, they do not show they are there (in the sounds or ringtones list)! In the tabs in iTunes for my phone, the Ringtones tab...the box is unchecked, and if I check it a box comes up that says: 'Are you sure you want to sync ringtones? All existing songs, movies and TV shows on the iPhone will be removed."

Now that doesn't even make sense...what I want it to do has NOTHING to do with my TV shows, movies and songs!!! So then if I click on 'sync ringtones' button, my capacity bar shows ALL audio GONE!! So needless to say, I clicked on revert, NOT apply!

Anyone out there figure out how to get the ringtones to show up IN the SOUNDS/ringtones list in the iPhone4 itself (NOT in iTunes, because that isn't the problem) after updating to iOS5.....please help out those of us that can't figure it out!!

Thanks!

i did what SteveCarroll74 said to do; i don't know how to attach his answer b/c today is the first time i am on this forum.

i plugged my phone in, clicked on my phone under Devices (left panel), went to the header for ringtones (right-center of page), unchecked all my ringtones, unchecked Sync and a prompt comes up that it will remove them. it's ok as long as you ALREADY HAVE THEM in your library.

then i went to my Ringtones on the top left side panel, highlighted all of them, dragged them to my iphone in Devices (there are sub titles under your phone; click on it and you will see Movies, Apps, Ringtones, etc), and added them to the Ringtone section and then sync'd it. it worked.

please try to find SteveCarrol74's answer for this. i'm trying to tell you from memory. please see his post on how to do it b/c i am not a techie. there were about 4 posts that thanked him b/c their ringtones came back. i'm thankful to him that i now have my ringtones back!

i know; trying to remember what i did. i posted a reply above to katinak67.

i didn't know that in Devices, where my iPhone is, there are sub titles under there. before i got my ringtones back, the ringtones were all checked as if they were on my phone, but they really weren't.

i unticked all of them, unticked all of them in the center of the page under ringtones, and then unticked Sync. it said it was going to remove them all. it was ok.

i went to the top left under Library, highlighted all of them, dragged them to the Ringtone area under Devices in my phone, then synced again and my ringtones were back.

i hope i remembered accurately!!!

but i hope you get your ringtones back!

Hey everyone,

I have a ringtone that I downloaded (not purchased) that wasn't showing up on my phone, but was showing up in iTunes. I tried the uncheck/sync/check/sync routine, but that didn't work.

So here's an alternative that worked for me, and I hope works for anyone else with a similar problem.

1) Delete the ringtone from the phone.

2) Delete the ringtone from the appropriate folder in iTunes (iTunes Music > Ringtones).

3) Add the ringtone file back to the Ringtones folder in iTunes.

4) Drag the ringtone to the iPhone icon in the iTunes sidebar.

5) Sync your phone.

6) Check your ringtone list in your phone's Ringtones window from Settings. It SHOULD be there now.

Please note this applies to downloaded or self-made ringtones. I've never purchased ringtones from iTunes, so I don't know if those are handled differently. Still, I hope this helps if the re-syncing option doesn't pan out!
