Nov 14, 2011 1:23 PM in response to texflaby Jim McDonough,Not for me. Still sticks syncing my iPad. At step 7, waiting for changes to be applied.
Updated: Killed iPad sync, tried it again, let it sit there. It eventually started syncing Genius data (not sure what that is). I went into Store and turned off Genius (don't remember turning it on).
Sync completed.
I agree with the post just below mine about the complexity. You get Apple products because they are simple, elegant, and work. All this extra crap is just . . . crap!

Nov 14, 2011 1:19 PM in response to texflaby cant think of an alias,Made no difference to mine. Still stuck at "step 8 of 8 - waiting for changes to be applied". Did you do a reset prior to or after upgrade ?
This is not on Apple. If i wanted this much involvement in making my electronic devices work, then i would have bought a PC and an Android. I have a housefull of Apple products that may well be changed out for non-Apple products if these annoying problems persist.......

Nov 14, 2011 11:03 PM in response to matobiiby iccaprar,Without any change on my iPhone, I installed the iTunes update (10.5.1) and sync works perfectly now. It seems to have been stuck into copying artwork for some video files (as this is what it synched now in the last step).
All good here now. Thanks Apple for fixing this issue.

Nov 14, 2011 11:46 PM in response to matobiiby boblada, recently my iPh4 received an automatic software update through iTunes installed in my laptop. iPh4 is behaving weird since then. why I used the word 'weird' because it calls the number in ph directory by itself and sends out messages to multiple tel nos and also restricts using applications such as Skype, oovoo, weather clock, radio etc., i called the service provider in my location and took the phone to Apple's authorized dealer to fix it. they checked and asked my permission to 'reset' which they did and I was hopping to get it initialized with iOS4 (original software). unfortuantely they did a soft reset to apps and programs installed and the repair center told me iOS can not be reversed, it can only be updated with advanced version. is that true? i just want to go back to my original software which was working fine with all the apps i installed before. i nearly spent 3 wks working on this day & night. could any one help and throw some suggestion on how to get iOS4 software installed back in my iPh4 or any other software that could possibly fix the bugs and make the other apps work as normal?

Nov 16, 2011 1:33 PM in response to matobiiby maureenfromexeter,I've got the latest version of Lion, iTunes 10.5.1 and iOS 5.0.1 and STILL got the same problem! I've turned off the Genius in iTunes and at least it's sped up a sync of any of my devices (iPhone 4 / iPad2 / iPod Touch 3rd Gen) to about 20 minutes rather than a whole night, but prior to iOS5 is only took a couple of minutes! What's gone wrong? Most of my photos won't sync. iTunes continues to sunc after the sync has finished on the device and it has been disconnected. I've had to delete iCloud as the constant wi-fi syncing clogged up my wi-fi and ate the batteries on my devices in no time at all. Nightmare!

Nov 16, 2011 2:15 PM in response to rogerfromsilveradoby sarahfromoak ridge,I only had this problem after I recorded some voice memos. Once I deleted those, everything was back to working just fine! I think somehow the voice memo files get stuck searching for artwork. Idek. I agree, apple needs to fix this asap!

Worked immediately after I deleted these folders so best of luck
Removing the folder "iPod Photo Cache", emptying the trash and re-syncing also did the trick for my iPad. Since I'm syncing photos manually (without iPhoto) from a local folder, the "iPod Photo Cache" folder was located in exactly this folder.

Nov 30, 2011 5:01 AM in response to matobiiby joely jane,I just got off the phone with Apple support who were very helpful. I don't know why I didn't call them earlier. Also, because the fault is related to the update, the support is free and I didn't have to pay so I reccomend calling them because my iPhone 4 has finally synced after over a month of cancelling at the last step.
What I did was:
- Connect device and go on summary page.
- Go to Options.
- Select "Manually manage music and videos".
- Select "Apply" or "Sync".
- Then go to music, photo's etc and tick the boxes of what you want synced.
- Select "sync".
- Done!
Thank you Apple Support!
