Q: iTunes stuck on last stage of sync, "Waiting for items to copy", NEVER COMPLETES??

Ive upgraded all my software, OSX, iOS 5, new iTunes, etc.   Now, whenever I try to sync my phone, either via WiFi or USB, I get stuck on the last stage that says, "Syncing Genius Data to Iphone (Step 7 of 7) - Waiting for items to copy".   It won't complete the sync.  Whats up???

Also, not all of my previous Ringtones will upload, so I cant use them.  HELP!

iPhone 4, Mac OS X (10.7.1)

I have finally got this working and here's how:

I reset the iPhone to factory settings and using a new installation of iTunes from here http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1426, used the Restore button (in iTunes) to wipe the present info on the phone.

With all the sync options bar contacts and calendars (apps, music, movies etc) unchecked I synced and everything worked straight away. Once it had run through once completely, I switched on everything else I wanted and things were back to the way they should be.

I'm having the same problem with it hanging when trying to sync my ipad2. I did not have this problem yesterday with my iphone4S.

    I've tried:

    turning off genius

emptying cache on mac & ipad

    unchecked music, movies, tv, photos

restarting mac/rebooting ipad2 after all of the above and retrying to sync

let it sync overnight - was still hanging this morning

    turned off wifi sync

    it hangs on:

    applying changes

    syncing artwork

    copying

    - whichever the last step is basically

I'm afraid to update my ipodtouch to iOS5 now; I've wasted 24 hours micromanaging updates and syncing. SRSLY ***.

With my iPod Touch, I found that ejecting it in iTunes gave a warning, but did not seem to negatively affect anything. I.e., the artwork is all there, and it seems that everything else is. It certainly is a but, but interrupting it didn't hurt it.

Understand, I did this when I felt it had sat their doing nothing for anough time.

Could this be related to the version of the Mac OS?

How many people with this problem are running OS X Lion?  Nader H, above, mentioned one step he took was to update to Lion.  Could that have been the fix?

I'm on Snow Leopard, and def having the problem...

Nader H's approach worked for me.

I did not disable iCloud, but did disable wifi sync, and backed up to iTunes.

I removed all ringtones, music, podcasts, and books (already had no photos). I left all the apps on.

I backed up again and did a restore, then added one at a time ringtones, music, podcasts, and books, synching between each step. Everything synched in a reasonable amount of time (~30 minutes for the larger components like music).

Then after synching via USB a few more times for good measure, I enabled wifi synching. That completed really quickly now.

I also re-enabled backup to iCloud, and it only took a minute to update a backup it found there from yesterday.

For me, the endless synching issue is resolved for now.

Ok guys i have a fix that should work for everyone. Just do a complete restore from itunes, this will redownload the 5.0 firmware. Just make sure you backup your phones settings so you can import them back afterwards. After the phone is restored just sync Music ect one by one.

For me it stuck on syncing videos from my iphoto library. And only solution is to uncheck "include video" under photos tub in itunes. I try everything but never sucsseed. Any workaround for this?

And may be anyone knows how to redownload ios5 ? Because it seems when i do restore procedure, it restores from the previos downloaded pakege, that may be broken.

Thank you!  After struggling with this for a few days...your suggestions helped.   Did exactly what you suggested Nader H and I'm now past this issue.
