I need to change the main iCloud account on my iPad. I'm merging family MobileMe accounts' contacts, and need to set up multiple devices with the main iCloud family account so we will all share photos, contacts, calendars, etc, but have separate email via personal subaccounts. Trouble is I entered a sub account as the main account on one of the iPads and I can't find a way to change it.
Go to iCloud in the settings.
At the bottom of the account there is a big red "Delete Account" button.
Delete it and then enter your ne account.

No, just on your mobile device.
It will also delete some data associated with your account on the device, though I'm not sure if it deletes it from iCloud. You get warnings before proceeding.

Can you clarify this- I have two accounts on my ipad, and like Highland Lad, I have the wrong one as the main iCloud account. So do I delete the (wrong) icloud account and the other one automatically becomes the main account? thanks
What about when you need to update apps that you've paid for? Will it accept your new iCloud account info? My husband and I just got iPhones. We were using the same iTunes/iCloud account. We figured we should get our own now. Should I still delete his account and enter mine?
I have an Iphone 4, I purchased used. The phone still has the previous owners Icloud ID/email. In order for me to delete the Icloud account, It is requesting the Icloud password. I do not have it.
Can the Icloud ID for the phone be changed without the old Icloud password?
But mine requires an icloud password that I don't have. Any suggestions.

I just got an iPhone6 and set it up from an iPhone4 backup. I never really used that phone for iCloud, When iCloud first launched, I used an old earthlink email but I've since updated to a gmail address on my account.and use iCloud a lot on my iPad and laptop. But the new phone wants me to log in under the old earthlink account. I don't have that password and attempts to reset it have not worked. How can I switch the log in address so I can use the correct working address?
I am in the same predicament as above. I have an old email I no longer use and now that I want use the iCloud, it asks me the password. The email is long gone, I do not use it or have access to it. How can I change my ID/email to my new Apple ID?
It will not let me delete without entering the password for the old email I no longer control or have a password for!
