iMessage and groups

How do you create groups in iMessage? I understand the multi-chat thing, by choosing to send the message to multiple people it starts a private group chat. But, as iMessage seems to be the answer to BBM, in that application you can create large groups that people can be invited to. I would love if this feature was available in iMessage as well.
