problem signing onto iCloud with iphone4, says wrong password but the password is correct?

Just updated iMac all devices to IOS 5 and iCloud. Ipad 2 signed on just fine however, when I attempt to sign-on to iCloud with my iPhone 4 it says I have a wrong user ID or password, re-enter again then iphone freezes. Have re-booted and re-enter correct user ID & Password to no avail. Can anyone help?

iPhone 4, Mac OS X (10.7.1), All devices updated to IOS 5

Hi, I was having the same issues but slightly different because we had to do some password updates on the account today. (former Mobile Me subscriber) What worked for me and hopefully for you as well is I went into Settings>Mail,Calendar,Contacts section. In there I had to update the account information that was under the Mobile Me account. That password was not changed on the device and in that section since we made the password update earlier today.

Not sure if you had Mobile Me or not but I'd recommend just checking that section out and making sure everything is on par for yourself.

I am having a similar issue on my iPad 2.

It accepted and verified all my iCloud data, and merged everything jist fine...except for Mail.

When I open Mail it tells me "The user name or password for 'iCloud' is incorrect."

iCloud is working just fine on this device - tested photo stream, contacts, and calendar...

I even tried removing this iCloud account, and re-entering it...to no avail.

What gives!

I was having similar issues, I tried deleting the iCloud account and reinstalling... that didn't work, and I'm too impatient to wait for Apple. So I made a new @me.com ID, and everything worked after I activated it, but I wanted all my contacts to work.

What ended up fixing the whole thing was to reset the password with the parameters they laid out... at least one upper case letter, etc., after that everything worked with my old @me.com ID. Don't know if this will help anyone else but it worked for my mail, which was the only thing not working but being a grad student/instructor with an iPad it was important to fix fast, to finally be received and sent.

I am a former mobile me user and I migrated my accounts to icloud. I updated my password to the new requirements and attempted to add the icloud account to my new iphone 4s and ipad2 which are both running ios5.

The validation went fine when I added the icloud account - everything had a check mark beside it.

However, when I go to my mail app and try to check for new mail I get the error "Cannot Get Mail The user name or password for "iCloud" is incorret."

I know the username and password are correct. Everything seems to be working except my mail app which gives me the error message. Incidentally, I also cannot check my mail through the icloud web app because it crashes every time I try to log in - not sure if that is related.

Thanks in advance.

I have a related issue. Facts;

a) My AppleID is an old mac.com address. My mac.com / mobile me account was not active, and I wasn't using them email address.

b) I can't change my old mac.com apple ID

c) I downloaded ios5 to my ipad2 and my wife's ipad1.

d) My wife's ipad1, using that appleID, works. Icloud is backing up things just fine.

e) On my ipad2, if I skinny down the back-up to really small (<5MB), it appears to work

f) However, I need to buy more memory. When I do that, I first get a "your (presumably AppleID) email address has changed, click to continue" after entering my password associated with the mac.com ID.

g) After I re-enter my password to continue, it hangs forever in the "buy memory" dialogue box.

I think this may be related to my issue of having an old mac.com address as my AppleID. I have updated my AppleID password to a conforming one (at least one capital, #'s, etc.), but still the same issue.
