Update to iOS 5 Signal Problems?

hi, i was wondering if anyone experienced some signal problems after ios 5 update? I did and when i was using the beta, it gave me full bars and never dropped calls but after i updated to the final version, my calls started to drop and text messages wouldn't send or recieve. Just wondering if anyone else notices this? I think that the iOS 5 Beta 7 is better then this final version..

I'll continue beating with a stick this dead horse , but now the situation is just mikey mouse !

The 5.0.1 update has crippled the 3g connection as well now ! my phone keeps switching to normal edge , and dropping signal like crazy !

I know of other having the same issue with their 3Gs devices !

Restore in any mode , didn't do the trick , and we have to thank apple for not letting us downgrade this bloody buggy iOS!

😠

I got my 4s on the release date and have had signal problems from the start...

I've done all the reinstall processes and is no different!

I was at my brothers the other day who lives in a low signal area, my wife has my old 3gs and she had a steady 2 to 3 bar signal, my 4s had NO SERVICE all evening.

We are both on the same o2 UK network.

I really hope the fix comes soon... I'm sick of all the dropped calls.

It is worse when I'm in the car, when you loose the data signal or it switches from 3G to 2G it craps out!

Not Happy 😠

Just wondering has this been fixed as I am having the same problem. Upgraded to iOS 5.0.1 (as suggested above) but to no avail. Still same problem... really annoying.

Phone basically just becomes an ipod touch and then have to hard reset to be able to call or text. Happens about once a day. Only started from iOS 5.... not happy, thinking another phone make when I next upgrade.

I'm on O2 UK, and iphone 4 (not s)

I'm in Ireland on Meteor and out of all the people I know with iPhones I'm the only one on the 4S I live in an area with terrible 3G coverage and amazing EDGE service.

The problem is I get 1 bar of 3G, which the phone says has no mobile internet or data. As a result it's useless.

When on EDGE I have full strength bars and I can get anything I want done.

Another problem as other have described is that when the phone has poor 3G is struggles to change to EDGE sometimes, as a result it get's stuck on Searching.... or jumps to No Service.

It will then stay on Searching... or No Service many times unless I restart the phone or reset the network settings.

I have found that turning off Carrier Automatic selection off does help a bit.

My biggest concerns is this lack of 3g on off switch. As a result, I can't make calls and when I do they usually drop after a minute or two.

My battery also drains amazingly fast when bouncing between EDGE and 3G.

I unplugged my phone an hour ago and it's already at 82% with only sending 5 iMessages, and 3 what'sapp messages.

I also have All location services and Siri turned off.

I also have this annoying issue when sending normal SMS's and MMS's where they'd fail with full EDGE signal, and then phone trying to jump back on that 1 bar 3G signal that's useless. I might send one or two texts only to have the signal die and jump to 3G or from that to EDGE mid message sending. It's extremely annoying.

I have this same issue, started a month and a half ago when I put 5.0.1 on my 3gs, did it for a weekend then went away for a few weeks. Started again last weekend and AT&T and Apple told me it was in the phone and I needed a new one, phone was old so I didn't argue. It has been a week and six 4s phones later that I am still having the same issue. Each phone I do one less thing that links it to my 3gs. This one has no itunes, a different apple id, a new icloud and I didn't sink anything to it. I has been ok for about five hours now but my hopes are not high at all that it will work in the morning. No one at apple or at&t admit to knowing about this issue, anyone find a definite fix yet? I thought it was just me!

My 3gs started working again randomly and worked for about 3 weeks then went crazy again which is why I swapped to the 4s, too bad the problem follows me.

When you went from the 3GS to the 4S did you happen to use the restore process to move all of your content and settings to the new phone? This has been identified as a potential root for the signal loss problem.

On the first 4s I did but each time took away one thing that linked the phones together. My last one I didn't use iTunes, iCloud or anything. Left it totally empty and it went searching within an hour after leaving the store, I took it back had them wipe it clean and made a new apple I'd and a new iCloud, it's been a day and a half with no problems but my hopes arent very high. The apple I'd was the only thing linking my last few phones together so I don't see how but maybe that was transferring the bug.

That's interesting, a new apple id and iCloud ID should do the trick. The problem with the restore is some of the firmware drivers from the old device were being applied to the new devices which results in app crashes and connectivity problems. I suppose this could happen if you restored from an iCloud backup as well. Since on your latest recovery you are using a new apple id and cloud id one would think there should be no problem.

Hi all,

I got similar problem. My 4s just bought in Australia, than i use in Indonesia (using Telkomsel Halo) & Singapore (SingTel Hicard).

In the beginning the signal were ok but later after some hours the signal drop only 1 bar. And if i kept away, become "invalid SIM"after bought, i'm not yet use it.

I did updating to 5.0.1 and redownloading some apps i have purchased before first, than the problem happen when i want use it

Please help me

Should i return it to Australia?

The root of my problem is picture messages sent to me from a tmobile phone, I proved this 100% and even did it simulated it with 2 other iphones that went searching right away and the pic never comes though. A full restore from itunes solves the issue until a tmobile carrier sends another pic and the base band crashes. I do not know why this happens but it is 100% the root of my searching issue.
