hi, i was wondering if anyone experienced some signal problems after ios 5 update? I did and when i was using the beta, it gave me full bars and never dropped calls but after i updated to the final version, my calls started to drop and text messages wouldn't send or recieve. Just wondering if anyone else notices this? I think that the iOS 5 Beta 7 is better then this final version..

I'm not sure about bar-strength, but the first day after upgrading to iOS5, I had probably 15 dropped calls on my iPhone 3GS
Yes, after the iOS 5 upgrade, I have consistently dropped calls as my phone goes into a signal search function. Additionally, calls are no longer consistently clear, many times I get static or broken conversations. Hopefully they have a fix soon.
iPhone 4 - Verizon
I didn't notice any signal problems until today. Today my phone (iPhone 4 AT&T) has become virtually unusable. I upgraded on Wednesday and post upgrade didn't have any major problems other than the occasional application crash. Today my phone will not hold onto a signal for more than 30 seconds. Even if I'm sitting still, the signal drops and the phone goes into searching, no signal and finally reacquires and the cycle starts again. Battery drain is rapid, I'm guessing because it's constantly having to go into signal search mode. Twice the phone has had a hard lockup today where only the home-top button press would resolve.
At this point, I would recommend people not upgrade their iPhone 4 to the new OS. Stability is an issue in many apps and now this signal problem is making my smartphone feel quite stupid.
This is so frustrating. What do we do? Just wait? Hope it works itself out?
i agree with all of you guys, i might just go back to ios 7 beta since it was a lot more stabled. i hope they release a new update soon. I really don't understand why they would release something worst then the beta itself. This is just ridiculous
I hate to tell you guys this, but this problem seems to be related to 4.3.5 and up. I don't have IOS 5, and I did not have the problem you speak about until after updating my iPhone 4 to 4.3.5. It has just apparently carried over to the new firmware.. I'll tell you something else too. I get the sim error that folks are talking about, and never had any problems before 4.3.5.
Same issues here. I had an incredibly important conference call this morning and the call dropped 7 TIMES. I tried both my new 4S and my wife's 4 (updated to IOS 5) with the same resulting dropped calls. I've also noticed the battery drain issue mentioned above.
Thought I posted a reply already with a resolution. This morning I did a restore on my iPhone 4 (AT&T) and it seems to have corrected the rolling signal loss. I've been running problem free all day.
I have already tried that the first second i notice the dropped calls. It doesn't work. it may seem to be working but after a couple minutes or even an hour, it will start to drop calls or lose signal again. Thanks for your help though. I am tried on my iPhone 4 (Rogers) and i'm not sure if it may be the back up or not but hopefully there will be a fix for it soon.
I'm happy to report that it's been 3 days since I performed the restore to correct the rolling signal loss on my iPhone 4 after installing iOS5. So far I haven't had any further problems, my phone has been working much better since the restore.
I'm sorry Jackhoang that yours isn't working up to expectations. I'm curious if doing the restore worked for anybody else or if I somehow got lucky?
I upgraded to iOS5 October 18th and have lost calls, have trouble with dropped or unclear conversations with the receiving end. I have an Iphone 4. I sure hope they get this fixed.

ive had the same problem ive got no signal on my phone now just says o2 uk with no bars this is after i had the sim not supported message but my phone did get really hot after i had it working so not sure if this has caused the problem
I'm on 3 so the signal isn't the greatest at the best of times but i still hit 4 bars pretty much everywhere. With the update i'm either on 1 bar or No Service.. or the infuriating contact Search it keeps doing..
Please god someone find a solution..
I have noticed the same. Ever since iOS5, i have had less bars/no service in my home. Also 3G goes in and out alot more then it ever did before. Must be the new baseband firmware. They need to get this fixed ASAP.
I hope this was not their solution to the droped calls before issue by making the antenna less sensative.
