My iMessage still says "Waiting for activation..."

Updated to iOS5 around noon today. My iMessage still says "Waiting for activation...", someone told me there was a email I was supposed to receive. I never got one. How do I get Apple to resend said email, or more to the point - activate iMessage on my Telus iPhone 4?

Just thought I might add what worked for me - maybe help a few people who are having the same problem... After going through the forums for days and trying everything I could to get my iMessage to activate on my mobile number, I restored it twice, hard reset, toggled all possible options and nothing worked... I was eventually convinced that it must be an Apple server problem.

Last night I logged out of my Apple ID on the phone, I switched off iMessage, I switched Cellular Data off and put my phone on Airplane mode (which is all a kind of combination I read in the forums). I went to sleep, this morning I switched Airplane mode off, switched Cellular Data back on, left it for about an hour and then turned my iMessage on, it activated almost instantaneously.

Whether there was a server problem which was coincidentally fixed before I turned my iMessage back on this morning, I don't know... but hopefully this could work for you, should you find yourself with the same problem.

People, this method works. Restore and do not backup until you've set up your iMessage.

THIS. IS. THE. SOLUTION.

Uh, except for those of us for whom it is NOT the solution. We have one iPhone in our house on a cheap pay-as-you-go provider that does not support the special activation text message that is sent to shortcut 28818773 or 49988. I have tried the suggestions to manually send a text to +44 7786 205094, etc., and I've even tried jailbreaking and editing the carrier settings to change the activation number (as explained in posts like this one: http://www.speakoutwireless.ca/speak/phone-features/facetime-and-imessage-regist ration-workaround/), but nothing has worked for that phone. Our other iPhones on officially supported carriers work fine.

I was able to fix the problem after several tries, the solution for me, upgrading to the new iOS v6.1.2.

I tried following all possible solutions here, even turning on/off iMessage and Facetime, backup/restoring my phone and setting up new ID after restoring all of them, but everything didn't work.

However, like i mentioned above after upgrading to the new iOS v6.1.2 my iMessage and Facetime now works perfectly. I'm guessing there's something wrong with my previous iOS version.

i have solved this issue by restoring to ios 6.1.3 to my iphone 4s.

i tried every steps on this forum and google. then i found a way to activate imessage and facetime with following steps.

step 1: backup your device to itunes.

step 2: fresh restore your device with latest firmware.

step 3: while activating your device do not sign with your apple id-skip it.

step 4: let it activate your phone number first. start using iphone.

step 5: imessage and facetime will activate to your phone number.

step 6: restore you backup and you will see your phone number and apple id activated to imessage and facetime.

hope this will solve your problem.🙂

My iMessage still says "Waiting for activation..."
