My iMessage still says "Waiting for activation..."

Hello again. One thing I noticed, it does not matter whether your mobile no. is in FaceTime or iMessage. You just need a way to let apple know that you own an apple product.
In mu case, I have only my appleid(emailid) registered in FaceTime and iMessage. Earlier it was always Waiting for Activation..After I did the things I mentioned above, at least these two facilities are activated with my apple id(email id without mobile no.). And I tried to use FaceTime and iMessage, both works(note that FaceTime works on with WiFi connectivity only). So for me, it is no longer a problem of not having mobile no. registerd in both.
Hello again guys,
about this problem with phone number... which unfortunatelly i had also. And i have tried a lot of settings,
created a contact with my name, my number etc. (the solution for me was finally to create a contact called "test" without any data in it and putted this contact on "my info". strange? strange enough i believe!
The thing is that i thought after all the tests i have done that the problem was my SIM card. But it wasnt.
I believe after all that the problem is a bug and you have to find the correct combination of changes in order to manage to have your number under the "Receive at" tab.
It is a matter of luck at some point which seems to be also the same problem on 5.0.1
Umm...DAYS.
No reason I "should've waited a bit more".
I got this problem also My iPhone is 3Gs,
Hope apple can help soon...
That worked for me.. After i pressed cancel i signed in with y apple ID and now i am receiving and sending imessage through my apple ID. Great!!
I'm here in Mexico City and I have the same problem. I had an iPhone 4 then changed yesterday to a 4S. i've done EVERYTHING I've found in the forums to no luck. I guess only Apple can fix this... I hope they don't take too long...
Belatarr i'm in Mexico too and i have the same problem, who's your carrier?
What's problem in activating your iMessage through your email account? I have both FaceTime and iMessage activated through my email account on my iPhone 4 - both work great. Plus is that I don't have to activate those functions again when I change my number since they are not connected to one.
How do you get it to work only with email? How can you bypass the phone activation. I'm facing the problem with iMessage and FaceTime they are keep sending sms trying to activate while I can use them throu my email. I'm getting charged for those sms.
I followed instructions given by seq2 on page 4. Just don't forget to reboot (put out sim card for a minute) and press 'cancel' when you are prompted to send another sms for facetime/imessage activation.
It's Iusacell what's yours? Thanks for answering!
I have the same problem! Tried everything on this thread, I'm from Mexico City and have Iusacell too, just switched last week from Telcel. Is it the carrier's fault then?

I have Iusacell too, but as far as i know, Telcel users also have this problem. I`m pretty sure that this problem it's not the carrier. I also made several phone calls to Iusacell and they aware of the problem, but all the solutions that they gave were useless.
I was wondering if the only solution left is to change the SIM card itself. I've been reading some posts where this solves the problem. On Iusacell the charge is 50MXN so maybe I will try that.
