Waiting for activation - can be solved. If you are connected to a Wifi source, change DNS to 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4
Check date & time,region
Sign out and sign in again to your Apple ID
Carrier should charge Rs.5 every time you turn ON both iMessages and FaceTime. If you are not charged, contact carrier for outages.
Reset network settings.
Issue will be fixed.
it probably because of your internet connection it may take a awhile if it takes too long turn off and on your phone
I'm using both a 3G and WiFi connections, its been over 8 hours since I upgraded to iOS5. Both Facetime and iMessage are saying "Waiting for activation...". I have removed the SIM card, I have cycled the phone on and off several times and I've also Reset Network Settings several times.
I noticed you didn't mention the email from my OP, should I assume the email is irrelevant?
I have the same problem. IMessage says waiting for activation. Same thing with FaceTime. Can someone from Apple please help. Thanks.
The same thing is happening to me as well! Both facetime and iMessage have "waiting for activation" for close to eight hours now
I'm having the same problem on iMessenger and Facetime, i updated to iOS5 last night and since then haven't been able to get imessenger to work.
and after a while i get this message
''Activation unsuccessful. Turn on iMessage to try again''
same thing happening to me.... does not activate and shows the message : waiting for activation
Hallo Brad,
I didn't get an email but first a warning that my carrier might charge me for the text message that would be used to activate. Said OK. Messages activated and my phone number was added below the email address. I now have two 'recieve at' addresses.
Don't know if this hepls but you can stop worrying about the 'missing' email.
Good luck. A
Well folks, it took over 12 hours, countless failed Google attempts but finally, I got it to work. Evidently it was a bad install, I used iTunes to do a factory restore and it both FaceTime and iMessage worked in a matter of seconds.
And yes, the mention of a email requiring activation is total bulls****. I'll thank my friend for that later.
Im an alfa user from Lebanon,
Facetime and iMessage are : waiting for activation
and after a while:
''Activation unsuccessful. Turn on iMessage to try again''
please apple solve this issue!
Hey. Did you download and restore iOS5 again, or just restored from the IPSW you had downloaded the first time? So my point is, was it a bad download and install or just a bad install?
Coincidently, I used my laptop for the second download and install opposed to my desktop which was used for the initial install. So, I can not answer if it was on or the other that was the problem. But to the point, it was a fresh download an install that fixed my problem.
Okay thanks! I'll try with a fresh download.
I'm having the very same problem, done 3 fresh loads of iOS5 on my 3GS and still iMessage wont activate :\ everything else works fine... what am i doing wrong here?
