My iMessage still says "Waiting for activation..."

Updated to iOS5 around noon today. My iMessage still says "Waiting for activation...", someone told me there was a email I was supposed to receive. I never got one. How do I get Apple to resend said email, or more to the point - activate iMessage on my Telus iPhone 4?

Waiting for activation - can be solved. If you are connected to a Wifi source, change DNS to 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4

Check date & time,region

Sign out and sign in again to your Apple ID

Carrier should charge Rs.5 every time you turn ON both iMessages and FaceTime. If you are not charged, contact carrier for outages.

Reset network settings.

Issue will be fixed.

I'm using both a 3G and WiFi connections, its been over 8 hours since I upgraded to iOS5. Both Facetime and iMessage are saying "Waiting for activation...". I have removed the SIM card, I have cycled the phone on and off several times and I've also Reset Network Settings several times.

I noticed you didn't mention the email from my OP, should I assume the email is irrelevant?

Well folks, it took over 12 hours, countless failed Google attempts but finally, I got it to work. Evidently it was a bad install, I used iTunes to do a factory restore and it both FaceTime and iMessage worked in a matter of seconds.

And yes, the mention of a email requiring activation is total bulls****. I'll thank my friend for that later.

My iMessage still says "Waiting for activation..."
