Both my Verizon iphone and 1st gen iPad WiFi worked fine before I upgraded to 5.0. My iPad is working fine, but I cannot connect to my Airport Extreme using my iPhone after the upgrade. It appears there are all kinds of issues with WiFi after a new iOS release. Not sure if this one is Verizon specific or not. I restore my iPhone without success. My iPhone can see the network but it will not connect.
i got a problem like u. iPhone can see the network, but able to connect only wifi, 3G & cellular can't!
I have the same issue only in reverse my iPhone 4 connects to wifi just fine as it always did but my iPad 2 no longer does. I have done a complete wipe on the iPad 2 then a restore from itunes and im able to connect better but still some slight intermittent cannot connect issues.
After upgrading my iPhone 4 to iOS5 I can no longer connect to my Airport Extreme. Everytime I try to authenticate on my WiFi network I'm told the password is incorrect. Just to make sure I hadn't gone crazy I tried the password on another device and connect right away.
I just updated my iPad and remembered my WiFi password and didn't ask me for it during setup like the iPhone did.
Fixed. Hard reset of the Airport Extreme fixed my password issue.

I had this problem also. All I had to do was unplug my router for 15 seconds, and plug it back in. Once that was done, the Wifi automatically connected.
I have the same issue on my iPad 2. It sees my network, but will not connect. MacBookPro and iPhone 3GS both connect without issue, just iPad 2 will not connect. I can connect with 3G on iPad 2 though, ugh, thought this upgrade would make things better not worse.
My wife and I had a similar issue. She has the 4g and I have the 3gs. After downloading iOS 5, we could not sync with wifi. I reset the router and the wifi now works.
