Mine too. it took forever to backup and update my ipod touch 4g to the new ios 5. But everything seems sluggish after that. The touch screen experience seems to be a bit jittery and there are noticeable pauses when loading apps. Is this just my ipod or is ios5 just not up to the mark?

Hi there I'm new in this community and I've been looking for ios5 on iPod touch 4g. I'm sick and tired of this iOS yes, it can be beautiful, iMessage, the new way to open the camera, reminders, newsstand ( hate that one) but this is an apple product. Apple is leading the market so, why is the iPod slow, when you update to 5.0.1 to 5.1.1 in the update description it says fixed bugs, battery drain bla bla, but it's to slow!!!! They made ios5 for A5 DEVICES (iPhone 4s, iPad 2 and 3) not for A4 ( iPod touch 4g) the baddest thing of all of his is that you are going to read his and all of you are going to be agree with me. But why can't a developer answer our questions. I need answers from ios developers!!!

Ps: I bought my iPod in August I still have the guarantee, if I complain about the laggy and the f**** up running could I get a new iPod ??? REMEMBER DON'T GET USED TO GET PROBLEMS ON THE SOFTWARE, THIS is an IPOD

Hi There,

Seems i have the same issue, i am using ipod 4g 32G wit the latest IOS, 5.1.1 . After using the latest OS, i realized most of the games i played before ware crash quite often till i am tired of it then i ended up uninstalled them. These are the example games that make my ipod crash; zombie takeover, paradise cove, movie tycoon, the tribez and many more. I reckon those games are too heavy for 256MB RAM. If i can't play those "heavy" games and i can only listen music, why i should buy an ipod touch then? i can just buy ipod shuffle, it's much cheaper. APPLE should consider this issue seriously. Maybe u should make the OS much lighter so it doent consumes much on RAM. This is very disappointed. I love apple and i love my ipod. But since this happened, i am thinking to buy Android product.

ipod can't handle those new features of iOS5 - lots of pre emptive like lock screen with camera & music controls, notification boards and background processes like imessage, icloud etc., ipod 4g has 256mb of ram only and 1ghz but underclocked to 800mhz cpu... what do you expect? the only solution downgrade all the way to 4,2. i downgraded mine & its all perfect again just like the time when i bought it, zero apps crashing, responsive again the moment you unlock your ipod. the only downside-you can't install some app that requires ios5.

Definitely do ios 5.1.1 and things get better. However as much as I can recall when I first bought my 4th generation iPod touch, it wasn't very fast to begin with. Then after iOS 5.0 it got massively slow and sluggish, but now with ios 5.1.1 it's basically how it was when I first bought it. I remember I reset it once after iOS 5.1 and it made a world of difference. Try that.
