I just upgraded to 3.2 and every time I crop on a vertical image the default crop is a horizontal crop. Having to click the flip button and then resize the crop larger thousands of times is not going to work for me. Any ideas?

Same problem here, and the top part of the image is not displaying probably while it's in crop mode.
Same here as far as orientation. My images are displaying properly.

It seems as though those of us having cropping issues are on Snow Leopard yes? Would there be a preference file we could delete or something? I'm grasping at straws but I need to process thousands of images in the next week. Ugh, I hate that my workflow is so tied to a single program...

Your best bet -- imho -- is to revert to your backups and let others teethe through the first batch of splinters.

i have the same issue, mac os lion 10.7.2 and aperture 3.2, but i think aperture is faster than 10.7.1 and aperture 3.1.3.
Same problem. 10.6.8 and started having this after upgrade to 3.2. It says this is for Lion and iOS5 issues, who the hecked messed with the cropping in the software upgrade code #%@!
I noticed the crop proportions are listed properly on vertical images when the tool is selected but then when you hit the flip button to get the tool to correctly crop vertically the proportions flip to backwards! As in the width is listed as larger than the height despite it being a vertical crop. Am I losing it or isn't that backwards? Pretty ticked off that I'm having to do this on literally hundreds of images just today alone. Please everyone post feedback on this. I've got two machines. A mac Pro and a Macbook Pro. Both run 10.6.8.
Both upgraded to Aperture 3.2 yesterday. Both will not crop correctly. The straighten tool and the cropping tool behave 'erratically'. The problem is worse with portrait shaped images. This does need a fix ... quickly.
Getting the exact same here (see above). Master Aspect is all over the place too. Apple dont you let actual photographers test your software? Put me on the Beta team as I seem to find them ALL!

This is going to really hinder my next two wedding edits. Shall I tell the Bride and Groom to invoice you guys for the extra time editing?

Use "Aperture→Provide Aperture Feedback" to send feedback (including questions and complaints) to Apple. Whining here has no positive effect; sending feedback to Apple might -- and it provides a service to your fellow Aperture users.
I'm going to be out this morning but p-bux posted something about the master aspect ratio being messed up as well and it has me paranoid. Can someone do a crop on both a horzontal and vertical image and run the calculation to make sure they're at least the right proportions (for example 2x3 or 3x2 and not 2.2x3.1, etc.) Fingers crossed that isn't messed up too. Looks ok to my eye at least.
