Oct 14, 2011 4:56 AM in response to jmommy06by SeekingHim,This is happening to me too!! All 2,887 songs of mine are greyed out and wont let me play them!!! I tried restarting but it didn't help!
I also lost over half my apps (100+) too!!!! They disappeared from my computer and phone! I had to go and redownload 100+ of them from the purchased area and then recheck them all to sync! There are still 48 of them that are "waiting" to download but there has been no progression for the past 7 hours!

Oct 14, 2011 6:29 AM in response to jmommy06by KurtK9,Same for me, the update messed up and I had to re-install all my apps and music, just finished copying last night and I now find I can't play any of the music...
Restarting the phone did nothing, am at work so I can't try re-syncing.

Oct 14, 2011 6:44 AM in response to jmommy06by applechicken,I have a similar problem, about 25% of my songs are greyed out on my ipad2 after the update. Some are songs imported into iTunes but others were purchased. Out of 3 songs I purchased on my Mac last night and synced to iPad, only 2 work. The 3rd is greyed out. iTunes won't let me download the missing because it says it is already installed.
Strange.

Oct 14, 2011 10:02 AM in response to jmommy06by jrsurfer,Same here. All the songs are fine in iTunes, but when you click the phone, they are all greyed out and it won't let me sync. Pressing Sync does nothing or I get the error "could not be synced because the sync session failed to start."

Oct 14, 2011 11:17 AM in response to KurtK9by dss11q13,same problem for me too. I can sync all of my songs if i uncheck the "convert to 128 kbps AAC" but then I would have no room on my phone.

Oct 14, 2011 3:32 PM in response to jmommy06by Watchdis,I had a similar problem with songs greyed out and not syncing and apps not syncing either. I also tried multiple restarts and redownloading iOS5 etc. The one thing which seems to have sorted it out for me is buying a (free) app from the app store on my iphone and then syncing with itunes. Oddly enough this seems to have woken itunes up to the fact that stuff wasn't synced and started the process of a full sync.
A bit random and i read this on another thread, but it worked for me.

Oct 15, 2011 5:49 AM in response to jmommy06by KurtK9,Re-syncing did it for with a restart of the phone, seems like it could have been simply an interrupted sync that caused it...

Oct 17, 2011 12:08 PM in response to jmommy06by delboymel,Strange as i had the same thing in that around 40% of my songs were greyed out on my iPhone yet would play fine on my PC itunes.
I downloaded a free app, then re synced and now all bar my 6 Sham 69 songs can be played on the iPhone - weird, maybe Apple doesn;t like Sham 69 ;-)
