Why is the send button for text messages now green on my iphone 4? Other phones on our plan updated to iOS 5 are still blue. Is there a setting I am missing? Thanks in advance.

A green button means that the message is being sent using SMS or MMS.
A blue button means the message is being sent directly to the device using iMessage.
Have you supplied your Apple ID in Settings->Messages and enabled iMessage?
Ok, that make sense. I had iMessage enabled, but it was showing green, even for contacts that had it enabled. Now it appears to be correct. When looking at the other phone, I was sending it to my phone.... therefore it makes sense that it was blue. Thanks for the speedy response!
Blue used to mean it was sent via SMS or MMS. Changing the color was a bad idea. It confuses people using iOS4 to iOS5. If you are going to introduce a new color, it should be associated with the new color. Application design fail. Only reason I could see the color change is one of arrogance... Apple thinks their iMessages (using blue send) is the "new" standard... Yuck.

Yes, I agree. Still, that was not the point of my post. I am really curious why as Apple decided on that software design choice since there seems to be a high priority given to design for hardware.
Sadly, your curioslity will probaly have to go unsatisfied. Apple doesn't respond here. Perhaps they did it specifically to highlight the new feature, encourage people to use it.
Sometimes we do. And we just say; cry about the colors.
It seems apple fixed this with the 5.0.1 release. :)
