Q: iPhoto not loading photos from iPhone

I am trying to load all of the photos from my iPhone onto iPhoto.  While iPhoto does recognize the device iPhone, it does not load one single photo.  I have never synced any photos from this phone with this computer, so all of my 533 photos should load and I should manually be able to load them into iPhoto - right?  Anyone experienced this problem?  I have only found this help page: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2352  which obviously doesn't help me since the photos never load.

Any help greatly apprciated!

    As a Test:

Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'

Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

    Hi.

    I have the same issue.

Tried the option but that doens't work.

The iPhone is recognised in iPhoto but it simply comes up with a count of zero photos when there are many photos.

It copies them fine to a Windows 7 PC!

Please advise of the fix as this is stopping me moving from my Windows PC tyo my new iMac.

    Many thanks

    Shane

That was a test, not a fix.   Since you can download to the new library it means that your current library is damaged and needs to be repaired. So before you delete all of the photos from the iPhone repair the library according to these instructions from this Apple document Repair Your Library and try to import from the phone again:

    Repair your library

    1. If you experience problems with photos in a library, Photos can try to repair it. If problems persist, you can also restore your library from a Time Machine backup.
    2. Important: You should back up your photo library before repairing your library.
    3. If Photos is open, choose Photos > Quit Photos.
    4. Press Option-Command and double-click the Photos icon in the Applications folder (or click the Photos icon in the Dock).
    5. The Repair Library window opens.
    6. Click Repair to rebuild your photo library.

Note: If you use iCloud Photo Library with Photos, this action will cause Photos to re-upload all your pictures. (from Fix missing or incorrect thumbnails in Photos - Apple Support)

If you have already deleted you photos from your iPhone,  have two libraries with photos in them and you would like to merge into one you can do that with the paid version of PowerPhotos.
