Hi all,

I have installed iOS5 with what seems to be no problem until I want to use the notifications tool. When I get a tweet or message they pop up at the top of the screen and I can grab them and pull them down but when I don't have the notification up on the top, there is no way for me to just swipe down from the top to open notification centre. Please help?!?

iPhone 3GS, iOS 4.3.3, I am running iOS 5

You have to swipe down right from the very top of the screen - took me a while to figure this one out. Try swiping down from the clock/carrier status bar thingy (I'm sure there is a proper name for this area of the screen)

I find it best to start swiping from the black area at the top of the phone downwards, this method is workong for me

yeah..... been trying for well over an hour now! lol... trying to grab the time area, trying to swipe down from above on the black bit off the screen.... no luck. The thing is the rest of the screen works perfectly

you sure it is actually updated? And are you trying it on the home screen, because the notification centre does not work on the lock screen

The problem that I have is now a little bigger I think... a friends one works perfectly but he has noticed that touching the top of my screen on any other page, where it should put you straight back to the top of the page, it doesn't. The rest of the screen is perfect and works really well but it's just the top time bar that doesn't seem to respond to touch. All top apps are working fine.

Not good news.... the problem is, because of a new feature I have now realised I've got a problem with my iPhone and I've never noticed before

not good :/ youll have to go into apple and see if they can repair it if its your screen thats broke, half the time they give you a new phone if you play stupid

Had the phone for a very long time.... I doubt it that they will replace it for me! Thanks for your help...

The update on this is if I'm in a program and a turn the phone to landscape mode I can swipe down and get into the notifications centre.

    ARRRGGGHHH!!!

Hi,  interestingly I have EXACTLY same issue.  Can't swipe down unless in landscape, and touching top of screen does nothing.  Clearly the header bar in portrait mode is not functional.  Please update me if you figure out the fix.  Thanks, I'll do the same...

Yes, same problem for me too - have to use landscape modus for the notifications. Still waiting for Infos or an update :-)

    Exactly the same to me......

    any solutions?

Unfortunately no new info on fix. I will call apple and see if I can get an update

    Hi everyone,

Problem solved... Went to the settings menu and make a reset and it worked perfectly. I now can swipe it down on both positions, normal and landscape....

Hope it helps for the other users with this issue...

  • snja1999 Level 1 (0 points)

that hasn't worked for me...which reset did you do exactly?  I tried "reset all settings" and "reset network settings"

    Hi,

I've tried "resete all settings" and it worked for me.... I'm able to swipe down both in normal position an in landscape....
