Has anybody had this problem before where you have a push notification badge on Settings app and it won't clear no matter what you do in the settings app? It's really annoying and I have had this badge since the ios5 beta and now the public release and it's still there. Can anybody help me with this? I'm guessing this has something to do with me doing the OTA update before. Help please?
Did you ever find a solution to this? I have the exact same problem under the exact same circumstances.
I have the same issue on my iPad2, iOS5, have had it for some time even through iOS5 betas.
cant seem to find anything on it.
This is fixed in iOS update 5.0.1. (For me at least.)
It's probably telling you that there is a new update for your phone (namely that iOS 5.0.1 is out)
The OP started this thread on Oct 13, long before iOS 5.0.1 was out. I can verify this issue was real and not casued by the release of iOS 5.0.1; however, as I stated above, iOS 5.0.1 fixes the issue.
I do not want to update to 5.0.1 given the reports that for a lot of people it doesn't help battery issues and may even make things worse. Is there any way to get rid of the annoying update badge on a 4S?
I'm not coming from a beta, but I had the same bug on my iPad mini, updating from iOS 6.0.1 to 6.1.
All you have to do is "Erase all Content and Setting" and then restore from your backup; I used an iCloud backup from before I saw the 1 Badge App Icon notification.
Make sure you have a backup as the Erase will bring your device back to factory setting.
You can find "Erase all Content and Setting" in Settings, General, Reset, Erase all Content and Setting.
Once completed the restore the iOS setup will lead you to a point where you can restore from a backup, either iCloud or iTunes.
