Airport Port Back to My Mac After iCloud

Before iCloud, I can see my Home Time Capsule from my office via Back to my Mac (Network).

Now I can't, but I can see the other Mac computer at my Home.

Do I need to do any setting with my Airport Utility for the Port Mapping ?

I agree. Not being able to access my Time Capsule remotely is very annoying. The best feature was with iTunes. I could access my music and library anywhere I was on a Wifi.

This is now no longer possible, and from the looks of it, I doubt it will be.

Unfortunately, this is the reason I am looking into purchasing a Mac Mini. I know you can access the data on those remotely using Back to Mac.

I second that.

I was able to launch jobs (downloads or renders) on my iMac at home from work. A real time saver !

And much more than a mere remote drive...

The only workaround I can think of is to instruct my router (which is a Thomson ST516 DSL modem...) to attribute the external IP directly to my iMac behind the TimeCapsule. Thus putting it in a DMZ... In other words putting it "out there" completely... Which I don't like.

I might try it if an Apple solution doesn't come...

Very disapointing.

I agree with everyone that this is extremely irritating.

You can work around the problem by using a dynamic dns service like DynDns.com

They have a page here about setting up an airport or time capsule to work with their service here

- currently I think you need a paid account with DynDns to use this feature.

I'm using it and it works fine for me.

It's slightly less convenient than back to my mac because you need to manually connect to your disk using "Connect to Server" from the finder, rather than the drive just appearing in the sidebar automatically. But you an probably make an alias or something to make it less hassle.

I was having the same issues since migrating to the iCloud and Lion 10.7.2.

1. I could no longer see my shared disks on my AEBS when outside my own LAN via BTMM.

2. Nor could I use the Airport Utility to alter settings on the AEBS remotely over the WAN.

The first issue I have solved.

Fortunately I have a fixed WAN IP Address.

With "Share Disks over WAN" checked I am able to connect to my AEBS disk over the WAN (ie at a remote site) from the Finder - Command K - then afp://myfixedIPAddress:548

I am then prompted for my password and I can access my disk.

Hope that helps someone who at least has a fixed WAN IP Address.

However, I would really hope that Apple do give us all back the BTMM features for the Airport Base Station and TimeCapsule.
