I've upgraded my iPhone to iOS 5. Now the controls of my headset don't function anymore. No volume controls or start/pause/skip music. I'm using the original iPhone headset. Any ideas?

Same here dude.... When i connect headset the audio is not playing for me...Even my controller is not working....
It shows me one track and plays another track.... 😮
I play without headset it plays..
Apple please help us with this problem... All this time i was happy hearing songs... but once i upgrade....

This happened to me.
I reset the phone by holding down the power button and the home button together for about 15 secs and waited for the phone to switch off. Switched phone on again, waited an age for it to start and - bingo - headset controls all working again.

It didn't work for me 😟, but i think it might have been my headset cause my headset don't even work on other phone anymore... what are the odds of it breaking down right after i upgraded to ios 5... Ordered a new one

Two-button reset worked for me, too.
I tried still the same problem... It plays audio of the track behind the list.. its shows song 1 in player but it plays 2nd song... i tried reset... but no use....
Nice it worked for some guys.....
Two-button reset worked fine the first time, but it has since reverted and now the reset won't work. Checked a second set of headphones, same deal.

The solution in the link you've shared has also fixed the issue for me (i.e. cleaning the earphone jacket). Thank you a lot for saving me from the hassle of having to reach out the device that's in my pocket everytime when I don't like the song that comes up. I guess that iPhone's shuffle feature can't do it's job right all the time. 😉
