Will OS X work with blueberry ibook ?

OS X versions up to OS 10.3.9 are supported on your iBook 300 MHz.

You might want to up the ram (not required but would speed things up) and as your hard disk is only 3 gigs you will what to keep the OS 10 system file as small as possible by limiting the printer drivers and language files to those you really need/use. Try a program like delocalizer.

I'm running 10.3.9 on my tangerine 300 mhz with 320 meg ram.
Works like a charm.

I have the 6 gb hd,with a custom install you can get OS-X down to 1.4 gig installed,then you can remove some languagefiles to win another 800 mb or so.

So yes,X will run,but a bigger HD would be better,even my 6 gig is a bit small if you want to run more apps then Mail and Safari,imho.

I just did a clean install on a blue clamshell ibook-I installed OS 10.3.7 and it used all the HD space. I dumped garage band and some other apps and now freed up 3 g of space, but how can I do a custom install and get the OS down to 1.4g like you mentioned? Or...can I go back now and dump other things to clear space? (I will run delocalizer).

This is a 466mhz with 128 ram.

You are going to have miserable performance in OS X with only 128 MB of RAM... especially since you have barely any hard drive space. You should replace the 64 MB SO-DIMM with a 512 MB SO-DIMM. That will give OS X plenty of RAM to work with.

That is what I thought-is there just a single RAM slot? I've replaced ram in other macs but haven't had this ibook apart.

Yes there is 64 MB soldered onto the motherboard and then a single RAM expansion slot.
