The + has dissapeared from my calendar on my iphone after updating to IOS 5. Tried restarting phone. Tried day view. Tried the new long touch. Nothing works. I can edit my old events, they're all still there, I just can't add new ones!!

Any ideas?

I am having the same problem! Last night I had no plus button to add events in calendar and no plus button to add contacts. I performed a restore and back up from previous backup (previous back up done just before ios5 install) and now have the plus button for adding contacts, but still no plus button for adding calendar events. Also I have no access to the other calendars.

I'm having the exact same issue!  I can edit existing events, just cant add new ones.

I have had the same problem on iPhone 3GS and iPad 2.

On the iPhone I have fixed the issue by turning on iCloud. I can now add an event using long hold on the day view and the add event '+' button is back. Have turned iCloud off for calendar and it still works!

Don't want to sync my iPad to the cloud so can't check that for the time being.

Finally a solution (and a simple one at that).  Kudos to you.

You're welcome. Have also got it to work on iPad 2 with the same solution.

I have the same problem, but none of the answers worked for me. When I enable the iCloud calendar, the settings app crashes. I have restarted the iPhone a lot of times but it doesn't work. Probably I will reinstall the IOS to see if it works.

Thanks Kharm...I did a google search for my answer and came across this site.  I had to make an account on here so I could peronally thank you.  I have the Ipod Touch 4th Gen.  My friend has the Iphone 4 and doesnt have the calendar program even after upgrading to IOS5.

I have resolved the issue. First I have upgraded to IOS 5.0.1 over the air but the problem persist. Then I have fully restored my iPhone 4 to the IOS 5.0.1 and the calendar works fine now. iCloud is working fine too.

Thank you Kharm.  I had the same problem with my contacts after upgrading to IOS 5. Once I turned iCloud for Contacts and that fixed the problem.

Here's the solution that worked for me guys.

Hold the home button until the multi-task bar pops up. Find the Calendar, Hold it down as if you want to delete an application. Actually remove the Calendar from the multi-task bar, and then go back to the Calendar to find the + sign to add events.

Does anyone know if there's a way to fix this w/o turning on iCloud? I'd rather not since I don't use iCloud and I have two different devices with two different accounts in the house and don't want to screw anything up.   I don't want my stuff being synced w/ my son's phone so his father can see it all when he goes there.

Correction.  my son's phone has his father's apple ID in the iCloud info and it's greyed out so I can't log in w/ mine. Is this because he has an icloud account that's separate from iTunes/app store?  IDK how the whole icloud thing works because 1-I never played around w/ it and 2-I only use an iPod Touch and there's no need to sync every day via wifi.  I only sync to add music... once or twice a year.  (or for an update before iOS5).

So, I couldn't fix this by turning on iCloud even if I watned to.

(FWIW....  the + button is not visible in Reminders or the calendar on the iPhone 4. My iTouch is fine because it's mine, lol)
