Why does my Me mail account keep asking for password?

Since converting to iCloud my Me mail account has been asking me for my password. When I enter it, it comes back with 2 seconds with the same request. My password has not changed. It's the same as it was in MobileMe. This issue is preventing me from using this mail account. Anyone know a solution?

I am experiencing the same problem. irrespective of username "username" "username@me.com" or "username@mac.com" I am constantly gettoing requests for password all the time!


It's seriously annoying.


Why does Apple insist on allowing migrations to take place if the new system is not yet ready and tested for consumers?


It makes for a frustrating and very annoying experience, please fix Mr Apple!!!

Okay, I figured out something that at least worked for me. Go into Preferences and click on the iCloud account. Then, where it says "Username," add "@me.com" to the end of your username. Save the changes. Close Preferences. Quit Mail.app without doing anything else. Reopen Mail.app. Make sure your other email accounts are working by clicking on each of their inboxes. THEN click on the affected inbox. Mine worked just fine after that!

Yes, SAME issue here. I am unable to use my @me.com mail account. Box keeps popping up asking for my Password which has not changed. I tried the suggestion from the post above by adding, @me.com to the end of the user name. This worked for about half hour and then went back to the same box popping up asking for a password. I don't believe adding the @me.com to the user name is part of the problem. Seems to be a random failure to recognize the password on the iCloud platform. Hope they can get to the bottom of this quickly since I really need this email address working again.

Same here, though it seems to be intermittent for me. An hour or go it was asking for a password, then a little while later everything was fine, then back to asking for a password. I'm guessing that it's just server overload on Apple's end that should resolve itself as things calm down as far as iOS 5 installs and iCloud migrations go. I had a similar issue with MobileMe yesterday morning before iCloud went live, but in both cases I was still able to access my mail on my iPhone and via the web interface.

It worked fine for me last night and that's something that just started happening to me this morning. I think it is server over load on apples part which is expected since they picked up thousands of iCloud accounts yesterday. Another issue I'm having is I can't verify my iCloud name in order to use it with iMessage/FaceTime/Find my Friends. I'm one of those lucky people that has two Apple ID's thanks to signing up for a MobileMe account when I first got my iPhone. I really wish they would allow us to merge two accounts since they're really pushing for a unified environment!
