What is the process called "Service" running in Activity Monitor?

My firewall is asking me if I want to allow the process "Service" to access the internet. In Activity Monitor, I see that I have a process called "Service" running as root that is being launched by launchd (1). It is using 1.1 MB of real memory, 18.8 MB of virtual memory, and 0.0 CPU.

Any idea what this might be?

Macbook, Mac OS X (10.6.5)
