how to change region format for Malaysia with date, time and day in English?

I've been using MacBook Pro running Lion OS and iPhone4 with iOS5. Region format for country Malaysia is available on both devices, however works differently from each OS. Lion OS region format for Malaysia can be set to Malaysia custom settings showing date, time and day in English. iOS5 and past releases don't work as well as its region format for Malaysia is fixed to Malay language for date, time and day.

Is there any way to tweak the date, time and day language to English? I note that even iOS language is set to English, the date, time and day is still in Malay language. Can the region format change using custom settings like Lion OS?

Cheers.

I have commented to Apple on the same issue using their 'Feedback' service.

Singapore's settings appear enviously to be just fine.

This problem cropped up half-way through the life of iOS4.

They used to have just a 'Malaysia' region format which kept the language to English, but part way through iOS4, the introduction of Malay > Brunei / Malaysia came in which screwed it all up.

I've just done a quick survey of iPhone users in my office.

Out of 6 people we have the following results for Region Settings

3 x United States

1 x Australia

2 x United Kingdom

Not one person using Malay > Malaysia for their region settings.

Ethnic mix;

1 x British expat

5 x Malaysians of Chinese race

I'll continue my survey next week and ammend the results accordingly, hoping to add more ethnic mix into the results.

My phone is set to Malaysia Region settings for obvious reasons. Search results/location/time-zone sync and many apps are written giving specific reply based on region settings. For many it may be trivial, but my phone use includes sync with office servers and different mailing systems; calendar servers, files, etc. That makes the region settings matter.

Since my phone language already in English, the calendar looks confusing by using Malay language. Yes, I still rely on Malaysia region settings but to a bitter taste.

I wish apple engineers and programmers would take notice of this, or at least allow users to custom tweak the region settings as allowed in Lion OS.

I have only managed to ask a couple more colleagues about their Regional settings, both of them are Chinese race, and both of them used United States as their Regional Settings instead of Malay > Malaysia.

It would be interesting if any other Malaysians can have a quick survey around their workplace/family/friends who use iOS devices and see what their regional settings are.

I'm yet to find any Malaysian using the correct regional setting.
