I got it to work (sorry - don't have time to read through all the posts). You need to login to Yahoo mail from your desktop computer. Login (I needed to type a captcha-type code).

There are two verification security questions (like your pet's name, etc). You need to answer the two questions (if you already have them, you simply need to click "save without changes". I made sure I was using Yahoo Classic for both accounts I was having trouble with. This is what the "verification" message means.

Once your email is working correctly on your desktop, put the correct information into your iphone under settings > mail.

For some reason, this verification step didn't work unless I went to yahoo on my desktop.

My two cents:

Yahoo clearly didn't test this before mandating the verification step - or just put a crappy pop up without thinking about writing a FAQ or something. Apple should have addressed this somewhere. This whole thing killed about 2 hours of my time. This is why upgrading to a new iphone is always a pain in the ***.

Hope that helps.

Same thing here. After upgrading to iOs 5.0, my Yahoo stopped 'pushing' to the mail app. I could still access my emails, and retrieve my new mail if I 'manually' opened the mail app and 'fetched' my emails. So, as per Texhock 12's post, I did some test... and sure enough, if the mail app stays open, running in the background... emails are 'pushed' to the app! Voila.... annoying, because, like Texhock 12, I like to close all apps to conserve battery... so, no emails are pushed unless the app is 'running'. Hope Apple will have a fix for this real soon... it's annoying!

Hi Everyone,

I had an issue where none of my emails were 'pushing' to the phone (me.com, yahoo and exchange (and gmail which is another issue)). They stopped pushing after upgrading to ios5 on my ip4 and also my new ip4s. <note: I did not have the september email problem or the yahoo account verification issue> this was just the emails not pushing from any accounts. I lived with it for a few weeks as I did not have time to deal with it. Today I hit the forums to figure this out.... (Also, all my settings were set to "push" as they transfered over from my previous phone and stayed on my old ip4)

The only thing I tried from here was doing the hard reset (home key and power for 10 seconds). Now that I have done that all of my emails have started pushing (except google of course as I don't have it setup as exchange and the push feature is no longer available via IMAP).

twenty minutes in, the emails are still pushing. I'll report back if they suddenly stop. Also of note, I'm not keeping the mail app open. I have been sure to close it each time to test and see if they mails were still being pushed, and so far yes they are!

Thanks,
Mike

I had the problem of my emails not pushing unless my mail app stayed open in multitasking. I had done a hard reset a few times back when I updated to iOS 5, but haven't done it since. However, I did update to iOS 5.0.1 today and now my Yahoo e-mail is getting pushed even with the app closed. I know "E-mail Push" wasn't covered in the latest update, so I can't say it was the update or the rebooting that solved my issue. I wish I could give a more definitive solution. I would suggest trying a hard reset as Heppdj2 suggested or update your iOS to 5.0.1 as I did. Hopefully one will work.
