How to divide footnotes into two columns?

Hi there,

I have a lot of short footnotes and so that the footnotes section doesn't bloat up, I would like to have it arranged as two columns to save space, like I have seen it in books. Does anyone know how to do this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
