Mail is rejecting user name and/or password

I'm using Lion and have updated to the new Lion, new iTunes, new iPhoto, etc. I've installed IOS5 on my iPad and iPhone. I am trying to use "mail", on my MBP and my password is being rejected. (Me.com is accepting it!) My iPad is telling me "CANNOT GET MAIL The user name or password for "xxxxx@me.com is incorrect." me.com is not able to load all my mail.

In "mail" preferences > accounts>email address, it lists BOTH my old mac.com and me.com addresses, seperated by a comma (user names are the same).

Is this an Apple bug that will be fixed (soon, I hope) or do I need to do the "fix:?

I think something has happened.

I upgraded everything fine this morning and Mail was working - now it is telling me that the password is incorrect and there is an error when I try and access email via icloud.com

Anyone else with these Mail problems?

I work freelance and depend on my email which is currently bricked!

Aggghhhhh.....

Yes same here,

What Im annoyed about - Apple have essentially given away a product they have charged me for for the last year (I know iDisk etc is still in use till June etc) but mainly I use it for the mail and syncing.

This is fine, but a) I should get a refund for the unused portion of my sunscription and b) if they are going to give it away free they ensure that customers who have paid at least dont get degraded service. Never ever had a problem with mobileme until now. So as well as not getting a working service, were still paying for it!

Sort it out apple!

I do remember mobileme had a few problems at the beginning, so it's not unusual; just frustrating.

I would have preferred a refund as well, but you should have gotten an upgrade to your icloud storage allotment that will expire in June.

It's just the incoming mail server that's not working, I can still send emails out. Hopefully, they'll get it fixed soon.

I'm in the same boat. I foolishly upgraded everything last night. It was initially working, but now I'm getting a message that my password in incorrect on my iPhone and in the Mail app. The iCloud website works intermitantly for me. I can access my calendar and address book, but the mail section sometimes rejects any attempts to use it online.

I've been on hold for 45 minutes trying to get through to talk to someone. Frustrating, especially since I paid for MobileMe service and just had it neutered. I'm wishing that I would have run it out a bit longer before 'upgrading' my account to iCloud. I'm a freelancer as well, and this has put me at a standstill for the day. I'm going to take the day off and hope that this gets sorted out ASAP.

I've tried all the tips and tricks mentioned by others, including deleting the iCloud account, quitting mail and going into system preferences and enabling mail there. I've even downloaded Thunderbird to try to use that. I am SO disappointed in Mail.app and Apple of late. If I wanted these headaches, I would be using Windows.

First, Mail.app began crashing when trying to get mail from Exchange. Yes, Exchange has issues, but that's not the point. Then SMTP on MobileMe stopped working. I had hoped iCloud would fix that, so I migrated. Now I'm getting the ridiculous password error on a continual basis.

Did they not test this under load? Really, Apple? I paid for my mac.com address and accounts. Do I really get better service from Google for free with GMail?
