I can't open mail settings in ios5

When I go to 'mail, calendar, and contacts' in settings, it hangs. My company has active sync enabled and i had setup my sync with exchange prior to upgrading to IOS 5. Now it won't load any mail or mail settings. The calendar for some strange reason seems to work. Anyone else having this issue?

I had the same problem, so I plugged into my PC and restored the ipad from iTunes. My iPad was reset to factory settings and I started all over again. I am not sure whether it made any difference but I said no to iCloud. I was then able to access calendar and mail etc in iPad settings.

Also, for anyone who has not updated from IOS 4.X, you might consider setting the iPad up with all your mail settings etc first and then upgrading to IOS 5.

Hope this helps.

I am experiencing all the problems mentioned in various threads ....

I did upgrade from a working ipad in ios4.x - luckily - so my email still work ... but - i still cannot open my contacts ... If I reset to factory settings and start over will my email settings still be there !? I don´t dare to try without knowing for sure !!

If you go back to factory settings you will lose your email settings.

All you have to do is take note of your email settings and you can set it up again. Also, you might backup your iPad first. When you go back to factory settings and resync your iPad, your settings along with the rest of your info should be restored.

Hello everybody,

I spend several hours last night and finally get it back to work.

First what did not work:

I connected the iPad with iTunes an click restore. But when it asked I choose restore from last backup. Even before any app or data where restored, the contacts crashed again.

What works for me:

Disabled all apps and data from synching with iTunes

Click 'restore' in iTunes.

I the middle of this process the iPad (not iTunes) asked about the restore mode.

Choose option 'as new iPad'

Then I got a new blank installation without external apps or data. But with working contacts.

I set up my connection with exchange and other mail accounts.

Then I enabled all apps and data (photos, music, podcasts) one by one and synch.

Note: I am running a german version, so I dont know the exakt english names.

Hope that helps. Good luck.

had the same issue. after iOS5 upgrade on my iPad1 all the 3rd party apps did just flash for a sec upon launch and then quit (but still active n launchbar, strange...).

I fiddled around and upgraded a bunch of apps (I have amix of two app accounts on the iPad so can't tell you which ones I did first).

I also went back to iTunes and noticed that it showed that iPad as "overfull". i.e. not enough storage (actually negative). maybe during the upgrade process it used up more storage and ran into a problem. no suprise then taht apps do no longer launch if the are out of mem... So I deleted all movies and music and synced. then I put the stuff back on and lo and behold! the storage was back to normal (ie some 9gigs free).

Now the apps work.

definitively very disappointed with Apple. I have been with them for 20 years now and it strangely reminds me of the os8.x area...

I'm having exactly the same problem with my new Ipad 2 as others are experiencing.

When I go into Mail, Contacts, Calendars, the screen flashes and goes back to home screen.

I'm unable to set up my Calender. I do not have the same problem on my Iphone 4, I have however

been using the phone for some time with everything already set up before IOS 5 update. Ipad 2 was

bought recently and updated prior to installing any apps, music etc.

APPLE PLEASE FIX - I'm becoming progressively more frustrated!!
