I can't open mail settings in ios5

When I go to 'mail, calendar, and contacts' in settings, it hangs. My company has active sync enabled and i had setup my sync with exchange prior to upgrading to IOS 5. Now it won't load any mail or mail settings. The calendar for some strange reason seems to work. Anyone else having this issue?

Same issue here, on iPhone3GS after upgrade to iOS5.0 (9A334).

The phone just came new from Apple Store (CZ) yesterday, and I upgraded it via iTunes on OSX Lion, no issues with the upgrade, except hanging on "Find My Phone" (restarted the phone and it was all working fine with that).

I can't add new Mail account, because "Mail,Contacts,Calendars" closes immediately (2 seconds) after I try to get to it.

Contacts would also not sync, neither with iTunes on OSX nor with the iTunes and Windows Address Book on Windows XP.

Surely seems connected to iCloud, since I also can't disable the primary SMTP, which iCloud set up during the initial iOS setup/

I recommend to disable iCloud if you jsut upgraded to iOS5 during the initial setup..

I will try to restore my phone tonight, and do another upgrade with "Use iCloud" set to 'No' and see if this will help.

Re:: to my previous post....

It turns out, after I have disabled iCloud on my MacMini ( I deslected all options, and signed out from iCloud ) and ater restoring the phone one more time to iOS5.0, now everything is working just fine.

I am pretty sure, I didn't have to restore the phone

(turn off the phone, then enter DFU mode by pressing power+home button for 10seconds untill black screen, then release power button and keep holding home button for another 10 seconds, doing all this with iTunes started)

and it would have been sufficient to just disable all iCloud settings on my Mac and sign out from iCloud but I can't be now 100% sure which one did it.

During the restore, I chose "Do not use iCloud" when asked.

I have deleted iCloud from phone prior to all these actions, but it did not help. It might be necessary though, to sign out from iCloud from your devices.

Now, Mail settings can be accessed, I have setup my Gmail and Yahoo accounts with no issues. Everything works just fine.

Now, I will have to search for iCloud documentation, because it definately needs better understanding.

iCloud takes presedence over all your settings and it is not clear in what manner it is doing it.

I hope this helps, and good luck.. 🙂

Same problem here with new iPad 2

With new iPad 2 and upgrade to iOS 5, contacts and mail settings doesn't work. Contacts app itself crashes also.

I tried to disable all iCloud Features in settings/iCloud. No success.

I removed the iCloud account from the iPad alltogether. No success.

I stopped all aplications with the taskbar, restart. No success.

Same issue around here. I can't access my Mail/Contacts settings (and so I also can't activate my mobile.me, and so I can't use the Find my iPad feature)... I can't use Find my Friends either, as it hangs as soon as I try to view my requests. I also can't open my Contacts app.

I've already tried to close everything on the task manager, rebooting the device several times, and nothing gets it back working again.

Apple must fix this ASAP, as it is a HUGE deal breaker. I mean... I have a fantastic device with tons of social networking features and I can't use none of them as everything integrated with the contacts core of iOS 5 keeps hanging on me.

C'mon Apple. 900 + views... 13 replies. *iThink* it's more than enough to give serious focus to this issue, isn't it?

We need a patch to fix this. Seriously.
