The user name or password for iCloud is incorrect

I can log into my me.com account but in MAIL I receive an error that my user name or password are incorrect and cannot get mail. They are correct, the same in Mail as they are if i access my Apple account. Solutions????

iCLOUD-OTHER, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

In a way I'm glad other people are reporting identical symptoms - "The user name or password for "iCloud" is incorrect" when it works on the Mac desktop and on icloud.com, and with the checkmarks coming up when you reenter the data. There's clearly a systematic problem and I will save my energy and pennies on the tacky 0844 number. It was too early to mock the BlackBerry users, apparently!

Having the same Problem.

In details:

- If i try to send a new mail, i got the "incorrect username or password"-popup on my iphone

- if i go to settings and re-enter the password, the verifying succeeds (there are 3 check marks)

- if i send an email to the address "foo@me.com" from another account, i get response with an user-unknown-message

- I can login via icloud.com and send mails.

- I can sync contacts, calendar (but no mail)

- I do not had a me.com/mac.com (mobileme) account before i activated icloud (the iphone asked me for a new me.com-address and i entered a new one (e.g. the foo@me.com))

- my apple-id is not the same like the me.com address (it is an email-address from a private domain)

- the me.com - address is marked as verified, if i open the apple-id-settings via the apple-site.


i also tryed several things (restart, delete and recreate the icloud-account etc.) but nothing worked for me


i hope that this is only a temporary issue... maybe it's due to the current overload-situation...

My iCloud is finally working! (yay)


Can't really say it's anything I did per se. I think Apple finally got their systems and servers working. I had re-set my Apple ID passwork several time (once even had the Apple folks do it!), but when I enterred that password from my iPhone and iPad, it wouldn't recognize it (though the password worked on my computer for iTunes).


Eventually, one of the times I re-set my password, it just worked across all my devices. I did re-set it on from iTunes on my computer, rather than via one of the i-devices.


Maybe I should have waited a week or so before getting the new phone! Oh well.
