ios 5 + car + dock + bt = problem

If by "the phone switches to BT" you mean the audio drops out, I have problem 1 as well. I have a new iPhone 4S and a 2012 Volvo S60 (with Volvo Sensus). I used a 3GS previously, and it was also dropping the USB audio in the same manner until I did a hard reset of the phone. No such luck with the 4S. :-(

I found some info. The iphone app 'A2DPBlocker' may be able to help. It disables Bluetooth's music streaming profile. iOS5 is more aggressive about switching from dock to BT audio than iOS4 was.

I haven't tried the app yet. It's being updated for background operation for iOS5. Here's a link to the app info:

A2DPblocker sounds ok, but currently it says it has a hang issue in iOS5 and it costs $2.99. There's a non-apple approved app called Bluetooth Profile Selector that fixes this on a per-paired device basis. It works really well if you can manage to get it installed on your iPhone. I'm somewhat surprised this issue isn't resolved in iOS5. I wonder if it's a matter of us needing to actually file bugs on it at the developer site.

This is absolutely a problem. I also have a Volvo S60, and an iPhone 4. Everything worked perfectly until I upgraded to IOS5 last night. Now my docked iPhone keeps switching back to my Bluetooth connection.

I have the self same problem with my XC60. I have a 3GS which was fine until the ios5 'upgrade'. Now it is keeps switching to BT from the dock connection in the car. Totally unusable.

I am also having problem 1 in my 2011 Volvo S60.

Switches from dock connector to bluetooth for audio out.

Happened with my old 3GS after upgrade to iOS5, and happens with my new 4S.

I hope this is something Apple can fix.

A2DPblocker would help, but there are times when I use bluetooth audio instead of the dock. Would be nice to still have either option.

I have a Ford Focus Zetec S and am experiencing the same problem. Let's hope we get a fix for it.

I have a 2012 Passat, bluetooth audio worked fine until I upgraded to ios5. Now, the controls from the iphone do not work, songs do not play in order. Is there a way to revert back to previous os?

I was excited to find, after upgrading my iPod Touch to IOS5, the artist & title information presented on my Prius screen along with RPT and RAND buttons. Unfortunately the results are bizzare. Sometimes it just quits after finishing a song. If I reboot the iPod I can get it going again but then the title and artist displayed on the screen doesn't match the song being played. At one point, the artwork on the iPod didn't match the song being played. I've discovered the easiest way to get music flowing again is by pressing the RAND button on the Prius screen. Why this works is beyond me. Before the upgrade this interface performed flawlessly.

The same problem with my 2012 volvo XC70. Please fix!!!!! 😉

I have a similar problem. I have a Neo Gateway. I can connect by BT, but my dock connector will transmit any data, ie artist/song title. I get only AUX1. The controls do enable volume and song forward backward, but the display and ability to scroll through artist/album/songs is gone. Hopefully there is a fix for this. Worked fine prior to IOS5 update.

I wonder if anyone from Apple Support actually monitors this discussion group, or are we just venting to no purpose?

2012 Volvo S60, same problem. Submitted feedback, as CM Leys suggested. The intended functionality was great for a whole month since taking delivery of the car.

I have exactly the same issue, it was driving me round the bend.. and guess what I have a 2011 Volvo S60 too!.. I have submitted the issue to Apple as suggested and I hope we can get this sorted soon!.. its a pitty the new bluetooth profile doesnt support the same as IPOD dock as its nice just to leave the phone in my pocket and then seach my songs but hey ho ! maybe one day. I did think of getting a USB hard drive and just sticking all my songs on that and leaving it in the car....

On a seperate note and slightly off topic, does any of you Volvo S60 drivers have any issues with your drivers window 'rattling?' my car has now been back to the dealers 5 times due to this .. the door panels have been replaced but still it does it.. Its ok for a few weeks then starts again!... mine is the R-design with stiffer suspension but I still dont expect it from any car!... sorry for off topic just interested if anyone else has any issues.... thanks again James UK (james_0121@mail2web.com)
