iOS5 not syncing with yahoo contacts

Hi

Since I have done the iOS5 update my yahoo contacts are not syncing properly, any contacts I add to the phone are not uploading to yahoo, but if I add a contact to yahoo it downloads fine. Although now we have iCloud, thats no good to me. I use yahoo mail and need my contacts stored on there.

Is anybody else have this problem or now how to resolve this issue?

Thanks

Perry

got the same problem...If I add, delete or modify a contact on the iphone it gets syncover the air with yahoo contacts viewed using a browser with my computer; but the other way around it does not work. i even wiped my phone clean and added Yahoo contacts using the cardDAV approach...but still no change. Went to Apple store genius and he said its a yahoo issue. I've got a trouble ticket with yahoo...I urge you folks to do the same...maybe we will get this fixed...it was fine with ver 4 of the iOS

I was originally having the same problem (additions or changes made in Yahoo would sync to my iphone but not vice versa). I decided to turn off contact sync under settings => iCloud and then re-add my yahoo account to my iphone. When re-adding the Yahoo account, I turned on Contacts. Also, at the bottom of settings => Mail, contacts, Calendars is a place to specify the Default Account for contacts. I set this to Yahoo.

After making these changes, sync is working fine. It is two way and syncs add/change/delete to both platforms.

No guarantee this will work for everyone, but I think the key here is the Default Account setting and the fact that I am syncing contacts between one service (Yahoo instead of iCloud).

Well I appreciate the suggestion...but as they say been there done that...actually been everywhere done everything!! I cannot get this to work ....still got the Over the Air sync from iPhone to Yahoo but no sync from Yahoo back to iPhone.. mail is fine...

i think its time for a new mail account. I do not think yahoo is gonna fix this.

I am thinking about gmail, but i hate how goggle is just worming its way into every crevice of my life...need to give this some thought...may actually buy a mail account from a real supplier with real support. at this point i am sick of dealing with free no service accounts.

I'mBack2Mac are you sure that works? I did the same exact steps like 5 times a few days ago and I still got no results. I even did a full iPhone restore and added all my mail accnt's manually one by one...(without setting up the iCloud). I still get a one way sync... nothing is updated on my iPhone when I update contacts via my web based Yahoo.

It's no longer Yahoo for me, but BooHoo!!

Well, Yahoo finally replied back and suggested these steps. I have gone over each step and unfortunately it does not work. I get a pop up error message claiming that SSL / Authentication failed. I have tried without the https, and still the same issue. I have replied back to their support team asking for a new solution.

If you guys want to try it out - go ahead and please report back if it works for you.

Thanks! 😉

After reading your email, I gather that you are encountering an issue

with syncing between your Yahoo! Address Book and iPhone not working as

it previously did. I understand this could be frustrating, and apologize

for any inconvenience caused.

If you recently upgraded the operating system on your iPhone such as

with the recent release of iOS 5 software for the Apple iDevice, that

could be the cause of the problem.

You can delete the Yahoo! CardDAV account entirely from your iPhone and

recreate it, forcing a new sync.

To remove your Yahoo! CardDAV account from your iDevice:

1. Go to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch settings application

2. Tap "Mail, Contacts, Calendars"

3. Tap "Yahoo! - Contacts"

4. Tap "Delete Account", Confirm deletion by tapping "Delete Account"

once again.

To sync your account:

1. Go to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch settings application

2. Tap "Mail, Contacts, Calendars"

3. Tap "Add Account"

4. Tap "Other" and then tap "Add CalDAV Account"

5. For the Server, you need to enter https://carddav.address.yahoo.com

6. Now, type in the Yahoo! user name and password you use to sign in to

your calendar

7. Once you click "Next", the iDevice will verify your user name and

password

8. The next time you open up your iDevice Contacts app, you will see

your Yahoo! Contacts merged with the rest of your contacts. Tap "Groups"

at the top left portion of the iDevice screen to choose which Contacts

group you wish to view.

Whatever was suggested by I'mBack2Mac works for me. I removed yahoo account (not carddav) and turned off icloud contacts. I then added the yahoo account again (not carddav) and selected everything (mail, contacts, etc.). I then scrolled down to contact settings to see which account was the default for contacts. It wasn't Yahoo and Yahoo wasn't an option to select. However, when I went out and came back to that section again, Yahoo was available to select as the default. Now the contact syncing works both ways. Thanks!
