iOS 5 Music.app problems

I'm having the same problem and wasn't having it back in 4.3.5. Wonder what's up with it :/

My music app is locking up completely. Play button is on, but nothing happens... no sound, can't move through tracks, nada, nothing.

Seems this was a problem in the last few beta releases of iOS 5 as well. I heard that the following work around will work...

To Fix your Music in the Music App:
1) Plug your iDevice into iTunes
2) Under your devices music tab, de-select Sync Music -> Click on Sync (this should remove your itunes library from your iDevice
3) After completing step 2, go back to the music tab and re-select Sync Music -> then click on Sync
4) After completing step 3 your iTunes library should have returned to your iDevice
5) Try playing your music now from the music app. It should work.

To Fix Your Videos in the Videos App:
1) Plug your iDevice into iTunes
2) Under your devices Movies tab, de-select Sync Movies -> Click on Sync (this should remove your iTunes video library from your iDevice
3) After completing step 2, go back to the movies tab and re-select Sync Movies -> then click on Sync
4) After completing step 3 your iTunes video library should have returned to your iDevice
5) Try playing your videos now from the Videos app. It should work.

The problem is that I can't sync with my iTunes until the end of the work day... so I'm stuck without music for the day. Joy!

((Too bad Apple pushed iOS 5 before this was fixed. In the rush to get this out, it gimped one of the primary apps in iOS... doh!))

i had music~iphone crash (multiple times), but using the controls on the lock screen (double-click the home button), i was still able to access my library and play tunes.

I tried your suggestion to fix my Music in the Music App. Music can play but when I turned my iPhone to landscape mode, the albums only showed up a few seconds and it crashed. Go back to the login screen. Very frustrating!

but it was just the visual interface that crashed, right? your music kept playing - may have stuttered at the crash but it continued? that at least has happened for me ....

In my case, the music actually stopped at the same time when it crashed and went back to home / login screen.

I don't know if it is related. I turn off Genius in iTunes and re-sync my phone. It seems the landscape mode problem is gone. Since most of my music are ripped from CDs, I am not sure if it is the reason causing the problem when using Genius in iTunes.

man, that's way worse than my problem! have you filed a bug or at least a feedback complaint about it? i filed a bug and have copied every crash report i've had since opening it - two or more a day. great coding and even better regression testing guys! silence from apple eng, tho .....
