ios5 killed printing by Print and Share

New iPad2 owner, planning to travel and work using my iPad. I added the Pages and Print & Share apps for my word processing and everything was working fine. Upgraded to ios5 and can no longer print. Contacted the Print & Share vendor thinking they were not quite up to date, discovered that Apple has removed the ability for external apps to print documents!!! Really!! I not only don't have an AirPrint printer at home but consider it very unlikely that I will have one available as I travel. The only work around I can think of is emailing all my documents to myself and then printing them from the app via their email function. What a ridiculous prospect. Work processing docs or PDFs need to be printed, it is insane to assume that everyone in the world will have an aipprint enabled printer!

Any other ideas how to make this work?

Agree. For me, I use Save2PDF to "print" all my stuff into pdf files and now I can't do it any more 😟.

Same here ... Nice that the iOS5 update was free but not if I have to now buy a new printer now.

HP's print program still works and WePrint/Print still works for me.

Which HP Print program are you referring to? Does it work with any wireless printer or must

it still be an "e-print" generation? My printer is network connected via Ethernet and is wireless enabled for my Android phone and iPad.

It was called HP iPrint Photo (and would print photos only. It is now called HP ePrint Home & Biz. In each case it would print to a number of HP printers including my C6280 which I don't believe is ePrint capable. It lists sources as Photo Albums, Saved Files, Web Browser, Camera and Scanner. My printer is scanner capable but not recognized. My printer doesn't seem to be on the HP supported list ;-) Just tried a web page and my printer isn't supported. I could still do a screen capture and print the 'photo'. It prints to my photo tray sohas been nice for 4x6 photos.

If you use the DocstoGo app for editing and viewing documents there is the option "Open in.." . Print n Share is listed on there. When you select the Print n Share option it opens up the print dialogue box and allows you to print your viewed document.

I've lost all my printing capabilities as well. I've spent hours researching to see if there were any workarounds--there aren't!! I've also called Apple and spoke to a technician who didn't seem to realize there was any problem at all. All he could say was that there were many airprint capable printers out there and I should contact the third-party app developers. They are clueless! This is absolutely ridiculous-- a computer without printing capabilites to a wireless printer.

I found a solution if you have two iOS devices. Turn print n share on both devices. For some reason it prints through print n share on the other device. Good luck

I have an HP 8500A Plus that worked with both the iPad and iPad 2 until I upgraded to IOS 5.0. Both find the printer, but neither can print to it anymore.
