Hi Guys,
I installed the new iOS 5 on my iPhone 4 and i was wondering if somebody could tell me how to send a iMessage from my iPhone to my iPod Touch.
iPhone 4
The iPod Touch too has iOS 5
on ur iphone4 with ios5 to send iMessage to ipod :-
Go to Contacts ==> Choose a contact ==> press send message ==> choose email address .... U will see the message window pop on ur screen with the send tab in blue.
The blue tab confirms that the receiver is also on ios5 and can receive and send iMessage.
That's it.
Manang,
When I select the email ID, of a friend who I know has iMessage on the email, I see 'new MMS' instead of message.. And the Send button is Green (not blue). And then the message fails to send! 😟
Any ideas?
Also, if I select the phone number instead of the mail iD, then it goes like a normal sms...
How to send as iMessage?
I thought this new update was to allow sending texts with wi-fi. But if I'm sending the message to the email address, how is this any different than just sending an email? Maybe you can shed some light on this.
As I understand... It's not different from email, except that it's as easy as sending an sms!
With Apple, it's the ease of use, rather than the concept itself, that matters most...
to b very honest i think iMessage has been launched in competition to Blackberry BBM service.
But iMessage being an Apple product is far more advanced.
Also SMS and Email are two different things. cannot be discussed in detail here.
I know people who dont use email on their iphone just to save on data usage. so sending them an iMessage makes sense.
and now they save money on their message plan also.....!!
hey picsnapr,
please advise which device and ios u and ur friends are using .....
Thanks for your reply. I actually already have an app (viber) that allows me to send texts and make phone calls with wi fi only. Great to use when traveling overseas. I had hoped that this new Apple messaging was something like this.
hope...hope is wat keeps us all alive my friend.....!!
Create a new message and add a recipient by entering the name of your contact. If iMessage is available you should see a blue thought balloon icon by the contact's name. Tap that to send an iMessage instead of MMS or SMS
you can for sure input the apple user ID (usually in form of your email ID). It will not send as an eMail, only to let the system know, that the other person also has iphone or ipod touch or ipad.
can i use my phone number for the i message ??
